I have a PowerMac G3 Beige desktop collecting dust, any ideas for it?

Its not currently in my house but from memory it has a 6Gb HD 64mb or RAM plus CD and Floppy Drives. It also has a pretty mean soundcard which I have used for recording on Cubase. Its a decent sound quality, but the whole unit is the size of a small house! Its running OS X 9 and has a 19" Formac Monitor (again the size of a small house);) Any ideas?

Maybe! I was thinking about putting it into an old flight case.

Something like this:

I'd call it: The flIghtCASE ;)

I am gutted! The dimensions I had been given for the Motherboard were smaller than actual size! Which meant:

It could only go that way in the case because of the monster sound card! (its over a Foot long!!) It was a shame becasue i'd already started to prepare the flight case:

So I set it up on my window ledge, as many have done before!

Only to find out whilst my beloved 10year old Mac had been away, the screen has turned green. :(

Hit the screen. maybe it will get back to normalcolor? I had a TTX screen that was turning red, blue or yellow sometimes when I was playing, so I had to hit the thing to get it back.

Hit the screen.

I think thats why it turned green in the first place! First it jumped then it turned red, then blue, and now its green. Unfortunately I think its just had it. Old age.

R.I.P Screen. We hardly knew thee.:dead:

Maybe there just too much green in the hardware setting.
AGAIN, LIKE FOR THE PSU, I DONT RECOMMEND IT IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ELECTRONIC
But it may be possible to correct this. Inside the monitor there is a couple of resistor you can play with. Most of the thime, there is one for green, red, blue, brightness, contrast. It may have more. But most of the times, it's wrote on the board. I've saved a couple of my monitors that way.

Edit: Oh! almost forget: I've killed some monitors too that way...

Nah, the monitor is properly wrecked, it's probalby not worth trying to salvage it, its too old. Cheers anyway.

Its really frustrating when you see people smashing CRT's on Youtube and the likes, lots of people dont realise how dangerous they have the potential to be.

lol woah, I had like the same idea as you! Thats weird... especially since you posted first. Makes me look like I was trying to steal your idea there for a second. But I'm not, I just now checked out this thread so there. ^_^

Anyways, about your monitor issue. My monitor was changing colors one time when I noticed my cat was behind my computer playing with my vga cord. He knocked it semi loose so it wasn't getting proper connection. Maybe you have a loose connection somewhere on the outside... or the inside? Eh, I wouldn't go into the inside. Your still young and fruitful, it would be a shame to have a fellow peer zapped to death. lol although the headline would make me laugh...

"man dies from electrical shock while working on his monitor" ><

Haha. As far as I am concerned, an idea is never copied, each person adds their own personal touches and flair. Good luck with what you're doing!

The monitor is destined to sleep with the fishes or become a fish tank itself!

Thats an idea I like, a fish tank! Sounds pretty simple too... take some silicone sealant and seal it up nice and tight, pour in water and add some guppies!
