Possible, probably. Easy, not on my watch. Maybe someone else here knows how to do it but nay for me. On the otherhand, if you are in the mood to play around with PCB boards you could make your own and impress the hell out of all of us!

As jdbnsn said, it can be done. However I wouldnt reccomend riping out an amp out of an existing radio, it gets quite complicated. The easiest thing for you to do would be buying an amplifier kit of some kind?

jaycar.com has lots of amp kits, I noticed them after simon posted a link to their site earlier.

:) if u wanna use a radio amp.. just dismantle the radio, look at where the sepaker(s) is(are) and cut those wires.. that will be your output.. connect the speakers by hardwiring them or use a plate of some sort.. this of course if the speakers are inside.. if the units are removable.. cut the cable :D and use your own speakers..
when you say radio.. you mean the small winny thing that wakes u in the morning? or a hi-fi unit? cause the amps in the usual radios.. they suck :|
buy a used amp :) ask around

Ah ok. Well have you opened the unit up yet? You'll probably find a board for the amp, then a seperate board for the power supply.
Obviously all models are different, but you may find the amp board has some Aux inputs at the back of it, in which case, fantastic! Makes it easy for you. Your speaker outputs should also be at the back of the board, again easy for you!
If it dosent have any Aux inputs, it will get complicated, have a look and if not, come back and i'll see if i can find something for you.
*If you open it up, watch out for things that go bang! ;)

If you don't use the original amp that came with the speakers, there are a few things you need to keep in mind... 1st the output of your new amp has to be the same or very near the same ohms (generally 4 or 8 ohms). Second, you need to not exceed that wattage of the speakers or they will not last very long at all. I know Radio Shack used to sell an audio amp kit, but haven't looked for anything like that in years. Good luck with your project!

Generally 4 or 8? Lots of older stereos differentiate from that 'rule'. The main thing is dont have speakers with a higer resistance than the amp. So dont plug Speakers with a 2 ohms rating into an amp with say 4 ohms. As for the wattage, I wouldnt reccomend you get an amp with more power than your speakers can handle. However if you can only get hold of a bigger amp. Just dont turn it up to loud. At the first sign of clipping or distortion, ease it down a bit.
