:eek:This is a really cool pictures I capture from a few blocks away. The transformer totally blew and created some wicked fireworks. No one got hurt from this, unless they were on this power line and was in the middle of video game. The two pictures show the two colors that transformer produced.

:(Around Me, this sort of thing was going on in the Midwest Ice Storm, the transformer blow up was the only highlight of the evening for as everything else was a bummer.:(

Kool, it looks pretty sick.
Can you make it desktop size =D (the bottom pic, the top is a bit too warm to make it feel icy)
From what I understand by now, Ice Storms suck.
Good thing we keep a warm temperature as high as 20C.

Nice pics. I love ice storms except for the damage they cause! In the second pic, it looks like the house at the end of the street is on fire...
Lats time we lost power it was due to a transformer blowing up. Very distinctive sound when they go too. Took them 3 days to fix and it was dry (just windy).

Ice Storm Extreme has given me a cool idea for a mod!
Snow covered case, with icicles hanging over a window, and blue LED's inside? Something along those lines.

I like those pics. Expecially the first one. Good eye on those
But looking closer makes me think it's not really an Ice storm. You can say it, you tried to mod the transformer...

I was expecting you to say.
"So I powered up my new rig and all the lights in the neighborhood went dim."
"Now that's power."
I'm in a disaster area of the storm. As much as 85% of my town lost power in this storm. Around 20k are still without. I'm one of them. I'm currently living with a friend in his apartment who has power and internet, so I probably won't be around for a while.
A couple of power lines are down near my house. This weather sucks. Beautiful, but it sucks.

:)Ya, it would have been cool if I had done that, but I only have blew a breaker when I put a heater on the same circuit as my computers. I am sorry to say I don't have better pictures than another 5 but here is a Link to All Five. (http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/DRece/Transformer%20Blow%20out/) Please Enjoy and do what you wish with them.:)
P.S. Some of the photos were taken behind a telephone pole to catch the beams but it didn't quite work.

:think:Ya, did have time for more after that but I got fustrated with the camera, so I kind of watch the rest of the show. The transform leaked some oil a couple of times and flashed big time. It took the people to turn the electric off before the thing would die.

you know some times they explode, because the oil gets way overheated, this happend at my dads work place, they hade a big ass transformormer working with 6000V and huge amps, the thing had its own litle shed(steel and concreet), after it went up the shed had no doors, and there was almost nothing left of the transformer
