That looks like a very good sensible choice of components it should overclock well and provide you enough power to run modern games a quite high settings maybe not the highest but high i cant reall see anyway to improve your choices:D Except maybe choose a dvd burner

Yeah, overall, that looks like a pretty nice system. But like sirkillalot said, why not get a DVD burner too? You can get them for like $30 on newegg.

Otherwise, great setup, and welcome to the forums!

Lite-on, LG, Sony, Samsung, Plextor, really anything on Newegg that has nice speeds will do you just fine.

I'd recommend Pioneer, they're just a great company with these things. I don't think you can go wrong when you pick a Pioneer =]

The setup you have is i'm sure under a price range right? Can you tell us what your limit is? Mainly coz anyone can recommend you to go one step higher unless they know wat your limit is and where enough is enough =]

actually my whole budget for this isn't an exact number. right now i have less than $150 to spare, but as soon as i get a steady income i think my total budget will be somewhere around $1700. the setup i posted is around like 1600, so i might have a little room to splurge on a dvd burner. and when i am buying a dvd burner, what should i look for, besides obviously the cost

mainly speed and brand name is what you're looking for. also dual layer DVD burners are good.

I would switch out the proc with the e6600. Much better performance, if you have to change the mobo to a lower pried one to get the better proc.

wow thanks for those recommendations, i will look into them. what i didn't mention though was that i had a lot of cooling and peripherals as well, so my actual hardware budget is about 1500. i think your setup could work though, so i will look at those products. thanks for the advice
