RFI or EMI. Anyways it's just interference. A fluorecent tube is never really "on" but a series of electrical pulses that keep it iluminated. These "pulses" or events cause other electrical devices in range or even on the same ring to fluctuate or have other odd reactions. If it really is doin Yer head in try fitting some regulators to the main end of Your lamp or any thing else You think might be giving off "noise".
Hope that helps. If I've got it wrong, please..over to You..
Have a look here.http://www.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Delivery/Ferrite_Rings_29788/Ferrite_Rings_29788.htm
If the link don't work just Google " ferrite rings ". Peace..

Great info blue73!
One note: Try to move the power source for the lamp and computer to different circuits (may not be possible depending on how the house was wired).

Cheers Boze.
Electricity can do some very strange things even indirectly. A device in a kitchen might start up and make other devices in a home go bonkers. You might fancy cooking something in a microwave and while its cooking go and check Yer E-mithers, and cant get online. It might seem bizarre and the Man is out to get Yer 'n' all. It's just science. Nobody is trying to end Your world. It's just science.
The same thing can be said for acoustics. Carried out in the same way sound can make peoples lives a bloody misery. It's very interesting stuff. If Yer into that.
What I meant there was about acoustics. Used properly or not can have some very strange effects.
