What do you think the best guitar solo ever is.
I would have to vote for Free Bird by Lynard Skynard
And god is it a long one.
What do you guys think?

I think you double posted. But I would vote Terry Cath's solo in "25 or 6 to 4"

Tim Reynolds - Steam.

Also look up Tommy Emmanuel. Awesome finger style player from Australia.

Eruption by Eddie Van Halen.

The whole song is 1:45 min. long, and is only guitar and Drums...It's incredible, almost goes back to the days of classical music in its complicity.

Sorry, I'm a music major.............

Sweet. I was going to do that before I joined the Corps. Ever get sick of Canon in D? This guy did... Pachelbel Rant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM)

Free bird? eh...?

You are not that guy in the bar that keeps lighting his lighter and yelling "Free Bird!" at the band every time they start a song are you?

Ok, my choice? Anything by Frank Zappa. The whole "Shut Up and Play Your Guitar" Album. guitar solo's are not my thing anyway. Now Incubus' Jose Padillia on the drums is the sheets!

Steven Siro Vai

That guy freaking rocks, I have his DVD lol

In 2004, Steve Vai was featured on Xbox's Halo 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_2) Volume 1 soundtrack, performing a heavy rock-guitar rendition of the "Halo 2 Theme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_2_Theme)", known as "Halo 2 Theme (Mjolnir Mix)". He also performed on the track "Never Surrender". In the second iteration of the soundtrack, he performed on the track "Reclaimer".
Just in case you thought you have never heard of him, sound familiar now? :p

I have a few favorite guitar solos:

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Trivium - P.H.O.T.S.O.Y.M.

These are all 'classic guitar solos' that most people say they like. Personally, one of my faves is the intro to 'Long Time' by Boston. Without a doubt the best intro ever written and one of the best rock songs.

Great one Dave! Not a big Boston fan but that is a good track. I got to see it performed live at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Co. That was when they still had open seating and we were 10' from the stage. They played so tight we kept trying to catch them lip syncing...
