Finally i got my new PC!!!!!!!!
I went with my dad to pick it up today all assembled and pushed to it's limits =]

Inside The Box:
Case: Thermaltake Soprano
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700
Mobo: Asus P5N32-E SLI
RAM: Corsair Twin2X2048 6400C4 (4-4-4-12)
GFX: XFX 8800GTX =D
HDD: Western Digital 320GB
PSU: Seasonic 650W
Fan Controller: Zalman MFC1
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNP9700LED
SFX: Onboard 5.1 Sound Card

Outside The Box:
Monitor: 19" Samsung 931c
Speakers: 5.1 Logitech X-530
Keyboard: Wolfclaw Type II
Mouse: Logitech G5
UPS: Powerware 350W

There it is, in all it's beauty. I'm too tired to be able to post photo's today so i'll load some up for you guys tomorrow and edit this post =]
The system does run a little noisy but it's mainly the PSU and CPU fans. Apart from that Oblivion runs like a dream on it with HDR lighting enabled and so do all my other games. No lag = More fun!!!

The overall price for this sytem was in AU$4255. I'm very happy with what i got and i'm overjoyed that this system is now a reality =D

No benchmarking scores yet but if you guys can find me some DL links to some i can install em and post results here =]. Like i said before... it's half past 2 in the morning, and i'm very tired.

Also i need some software that can monitor my CPU, Motherboard, Case and GFX card temps. So i can keep an eye out for when to turn my fans up or down and which games really push my system to it's limits =] If anyone can find me something along those lines that would be great.

For now, Gnight TBCS community and have a very comfy sleep =]

Your board must have come with a software for it. Probably safer then third partie

the rig was built by scorptec, not me.
i'd rather have a 3 year warranty and i didn't want anything to go wrong when hooking up such high end hardware =]

no i haven't OCed it yet, i'm going to let it run on stock for quite a while, then maybe in a month i'll think about it =]

"Auxhilary white/red sound to 5.1 o thats what it was? also thats a molex to floppy their not pcie" yup you got it =]

lolz so cmon guys, i need benchmarking tools and help with the voltages =[

You got scorptec tech to build the rig for you!!!!! :dead:

Just jokes mate How much did they charge you for it.

I'm jealous of your motherboard. Seems like it was out of stock everywhere, Stiker Extreme too... So I'm stuck with an EVGA mobo....

Evga mobos are sweets especially with nv's latest chipset the 860i or what ever it is.

We'll see. I had my heart set on the Asus Striker Extreme before it was announced. I saw that Asus made a cool motherboard for AMD processors (Crosshair) and I have been waiting forever for them to create one for Intel's Core 2 Duo. I was actually going to get the Crosshair and an X2 4800+ but I didn't have the money at the time. Then Core 2 Duo came out, lol. So I waited and waited and waited.

Anyways, I hope to put up a review of the EVGA 680i motherboard up in the reviews section if anyone cares. I hope it is insightful/helpful, never done a review before. Then again, people can just go to their favorite review site and read a better one. I don't know...

70$ for assembly and 24 hour stress testing.

P.S. i think you should make a review, not many people know much about the Evga motherboards, it's mainly Asus mobo's here.

I'm downloading 3DMark06 now, dang it's big lolz...

Oh and for me the Striker was out of stock so i decided to go with the P5N32-E SLI. Same motherboard but less flashy. No LCD, no eSATA and no blue LEDs lolz. Wow, big difference...

First time i ran 3DMark06 i got this:
score: 6086

then i went to Task Manager and set the affinity on 3DMark06.exe to CPU01.
new score: 8157

Then i went back to the task manager again and set the CPU affinity to CPU00 and CPU01.
newest score: 10022

it seems like my system is getting better with every test i do rofl. i am guessing that i should be getting this sort of score on my system. or should i be getting high 11000's?

P.S. It turns out my voltage problems weren't problems at all. It was just the untrustworthy software...

Silenced_Coyote

I'm not sure, but a score around 10,000 sounds about right. That is on defualt settings right? You didn't increase/decrease the resolution?

Ronyx
01-20-2007, 09:12 PM
resolution is 1280 x 1024
and the settings are default in 3DMark06 with AA and AF turned off in my nVidia control panel

later a friend of mine had the full version of it so he gave me that and i was able to adjust 3DMark06 to turn on AAx16 and AFx8 and the same in my control panel. after i ran ALL the tests i got a score of 9974.

not a huge change but the quality of the images was much better, less tearing and jumpiness when objects were moving across the screen and the renders were more smooth then crisp.

well lol you beat my rig by 5 thousand points lol

heh u cant complain about a EVGA motherboard heh
im stuck with a ASrock motherboard....
dunno if ya know but ASRock is a sub of ASUS
cept ASrock is for small home PCs and business systems...
only thing u can rly change is the FSB heh
no voltage control....
i have to mod my CPU to change the voltage...

Ronyx
01-22-2007, 12:48 AM
I'm not gonna mod or do anything to my comp for a looooooong time.

i like the warranty and free installation agreement they have with me so i'm just gonna hang onto my comp as is for a while =]

P.S. The Asus Software tells me that i have my voltages on the +12V rail set to 11.84. I've read that to get the best performance possible from my GTX i should bump it up to 11.9. But before i go into my BIOS and begin changing things i'd like to know if there's any software capable of calculating my current wattage intake. Maybe the tech guys put it at 11.84 for a reason. Maybe the 650W PSU has reached it's limit =S Also will there be a dramatic performance increase or a subtle increase in 3DMark scores by 100 points?

Silenced_Coyote
01-22-2007, 01:30 AM
That isn't something you can set. The only way to change that is to get a better PSU. It isn't a limit. Some go under 12V and some go over.

Umm, for benchmarking just get 3dmark05 or 06, whichever you can get your hands on. A few more useful tools are Speedfan and Superpi. Since your board is ASUS I know for a fact it comes with some cool monitors, that should be turned on for when you are overclocking.

I'm not that experienced with overclocking to help with voltages, and I don't want to mess your AMAZING system up. (Asus has a noob overclock tool though!)

what did u mean about having an evga board and not having to be bothered by a asrock board chimera neither ronyx nor i have evga boards im a lil confuzzled

also +rep on your nice halo sig even though its animated which goes against the signature rules im sure ull be hearing from dave about that though

Maybe he thought i had an EVGA 680i motherboard. Common mistake since they're well known because they were the first ones to ship out with the 680i chipset. Later after Asus fixed their BIOS problems they shipped out their ones. The EVGA is built off the same chipset as the Asus mobo's but no, i do not have an EVGA. I have an Asus.

I like the system. However, you should have refused to pay if the "warranty void if removed" sticker was on there. If they only put it together and you supplied the parts, there warranty wont cover parts, Only labour which is easy enough to do your self.

All other varieties of electrical appliances state "no user serviceable parts inside". This is not the case with computers. They are 100% user serviceable.

Now if somthing happens to your computer, it'll get looked at when they deside its convienient for them. Probly leaving you out in the cold in the meantime.

Ronyx

i bought all the parts from them and got them to put it together. that's why the sticker is there. it's their parts and if anything goes wrong i bring back the system to them and they fix it for me.
as i mentioned before i wouldn't dream of putting together a system of such high price without any prior system assembly knowledge.

it's fair enough to say that some companies are very busy and don't treat their customers right but seeing as this is an eager thriving company who need every customer they can get. i think they'd be happy to look after their current customers if they wish to make any new ones.

the guys who assembled my system, when asked about the sticker, said that it's just there so that people won't go ripping out their cpu's and try to put them back again only to later come back and say "look this is broken, give me a new one". it's alright for me to take off the side of the case aslong as all parts stay intact and aren't taken out. i'd rather play it safe and keep the sticker there then risk losing my entire warranty over some nice pictures, i'm sure u guys understand that that's be the best thing to do.

thanks for your concern though, i should have explained this earlier on =]
