You know what would be really cool? Being able to connect an external Hard Drive to your Mp3 player. I wouldn't suppose that they have something like that do they? I would guess not for iPod especially, all of that bs that you can only use iTunes to transfer music, videos, and other stuff.
But cool idea huh? That would solve being limited to only the capacity of your Mp3 device.

That would solve being limited to only the capacity of your Mp3 device.
Well, you would then have to carry a hard drive around with you. If you're that desperate to have huge amounts of space, then why not get a DVD-Mp3 player? Dual layer discs, 8GB each, and they're lighter than a HD.

Hmmm, well thats true. But apple could make some special hard drives for iPods that are really small. It's not like you would have to carry them around where ever you go. I was thinking for more on the lines of long air flights, traveling, home usage (movies on your tv, if you have a iPod->tv device). Things like that.
Maybe its just me, but I would like to have one for my 30GB video. Since it was a present, I didn't have a choice in its size and it is becoming full pretty quickly. It's kind of a bother when you want to listen to something thats on your computer but not your iPod. Then you have to make room if you don't have it and transfer over what you want. lol by that time, I often lose interest in whatever it was that I wanted to see or watch.

I have seen hacks where people add laptop drives to mp3 players. It doesn't look easy but I think it can be done, search through some different hack forums and I'll be you can find something.

It's actually quite simple to plug a hard drive into your iPod. I actually "built" my iPod using old parts that I found off ebay - the whole iPod mini cost me bout 25 dollars to build.
They make adaptors that fit iPods on one end and IDE hard drives on the other. Let me try and find you a link.
EDIT: First search on Google yielded...
This guy built his own adaptor:http://www.command-tab.com/2005/03/13/ipod-super/
This site sells them:http://www.addonics.com/products/io/aaedt18ide25.asp
Ebay sells them for DAMNED cheap:http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=ipod+to+ide&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=18901&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search

Lol.. thinking about it, why do I know this stuff? Lol I have no friends
Friends or not, that research deserves a rep.
A few years ago they had mp3 players that were based around full hard drives. They could be transferred between your pc and car. A friend of mine had one. It was rather cool.
Honestly, it would be easier to spend a couple hundred bucks on an old laptop and keep extra music/stuff on there. Used 1ghz laptops with 80 gb drives are rather affordable and can charge and transfer music.

They should make it so you can use the iPod cable to connect your iPod to your hard drive. Get a external HDD with USB and just plug it in. That would be cool.
I think iPod should do at least that, but make them just as small as the iPod's. That way if you already have an iPod you can just buy the extension hard drive and plug it in. Maybe thats just me, I would be happy if iPod's got up to 150GB+. ..lor more preferably, the Zune. Those things are WAY better than iPods.
