i need some suggestions here, i cut a hole on my side panel for a 120mm fan because my old 80mm fans let my cpu and hd burn up, and the one i ordered was no good and had low airflow. can anyone recommend a good fan? because i really dont want to have to buy all new hardware again, a good fan or 2 is cheaper lol

This is my collection of every 5 out of 5 star rating fans that are worth mentioning off of Newegg.com. What you want, is high CFM and low DBA. CFM being airflow and DBA being sound. DBA that is around 40 or higher is very loud and not pleasant to be around at all. But if sound is not an issue for you... I would recommend THIS ONE (http://www.xoxide.com/120mm-nidec-fan.html) for its extremely high CFM. Keep in mind, it is _very_ loud. The first one on the "Pricey Fans" list is also _very_ close to matching the one I just listed. It's also a couple DBA quieter as well!

Glad I could be of service to you!

That first one is a fantastic choice. It's made by a company who believes in high quality as a standard, which is why it is a tad bit on the pricey side. But it will cool your needs for sure. However, I will warn you that it does have a high DBA. But like I mentioned before, if you don't mind the sound of massive air being pushed around, then thats the fan for you!

Let us know if you need anything else, we are glad to help! I mean, we're geeks! What else are we gonna do all day? ;)

FYI - If you plan to stick around, take a quick read through the Rules of the Road (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?p=54#post54). People end up being banned more often than not from this website because they violate the rules. Just some friendly advice. :)

As a matter of fact we do! It's called "Your Mods (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35)", which basically consists of anything that isn't factory made. So if you have something that you have made or changed from factory stock, then show it to us! Some of us are spoiled and don't like to see the "small fry" mods (ie buying a new case and adding some pretty lights), but I always enjoy seeing people wander away from factory made cr@p! So whether you are a small fry, a newb, or an experienced veteran, show us what you got and let us know that you believe in sticking it to the man!

**The Man - Company/Factory made computers. Excluding quality companies such as "Mountain Mods" and in some cases "Alienware".

Further explanation of "The Man".

"He who believes in the production of mass numbers over the production of high quality shall be shunned upon and forever cast out into the outskirts of cheaply made merchandise. He who follows this path, shall also not be named but simply referred to as "The Man". May he die a quick but lonely death."

this is kind of getting off topic here i suppose, but my project pc is one i picked up from ebay, a Compaq deskpro en, it has a amd sempron 2.0 ghz, 512mb ddr, a 100g hd and everything else isint too good. ive already installed 2gb of corsair ram and a 320g hd with xp pro with express vista upgrade. im looking to install a new power supply and a ati radeon x1650 pro 512mb. i know the cpu is a bit slow, but everything isint that bad is it?

Sounds pretty good, although your CPU and motherboard will probably bottleneck the graphics card, especially if it's a sempron. They're not really performance chips-they're fast calculators more than anything.

Sounds pretty good. You should look into replacing the mobo and proc though. Even a cheap mobo with a weak P4 proc would be alot better than what you have now. But some would see that as a waste of money... so maybe ebay?

What do you mainly use your computer for?

Bah, forget those AMD's for now. Go with a Conroe! They are getting pretty cheap lately too. Especially for compatible motherboards.

What you have for what you are doing is pretty fine how it is. My dads basically the same way. Mostly internet with a dash of noobish gaming. You don't need no fancy equipment for that! ^_^
