You don't seem that set about getting Vista. Maybe you should decide on that first.

I really don't know why you would want to go to AM2. You got a pretty good PC.

I haven't seen any benchmarks yet. But you might be able to get away by using a USB flash drive to take advantage of Vista's Ready Boost feature.

I got AM2 proc and mobo, but I never got to try it out yet. You should upgrade, maybe to a AM2 board w/ DDR2 like my setup.

Looking at your specs... I would say that the Ram is the only part that I don't like about your rig. I say upgrade your Ram.

Yeah, go for it. DDRII still hasn't really got a proper foothold yet, apart from those people who automatically think 'II' means it's better. Last i checked it actually ran the same speeds, although my RAM efficiency calculations leave a lot to be desired.

You could upgrade your rig by getting memory..

Or you could sell your old rig and rebuild with DDR2, 8800GT, and CORE 2!! (sorry if you're an AMD fan, I'm not an Intel fanboy per say, but right now Intel is prime)

I'm running vista with 1 gig right now. It's not bad. I could definitely see where 2 gigs would be better though. I'll vote on a RAM upgrade.
