So i ran in to a little unforeseen problem today.

I decided to reinstall OS X on my mac and i figured that i wouldn't back up all of my songs because they SHOULD be safe on my ipod. I get everything up and running, hook up my ipod, open up itunes, try to copy my songs back in to my music library, and i can just hear Jobs laughing at me. This really aggravates me, I spent a lot of time ripping all of my CD's on to my laptop and then loading them to my ipod and now i cant get them back on my laptop.

So my question is, does anyone know any good mac compatible programs to retrieve my music library? I really don't want to have to rip all of my CD's again.

Thanks guys.

PS: Now i understand why a lot of people prefer to go with a drag and drop mp3 player.

Yah.. Unfortunately that is by design when it comes to Ipods. I would imagine a google search could help out, but I believe that it would go against both Apples and TBCS's TOS if it were discussed here.

Good luck I have had several friends in the same boat, they were able to work it out. ;)

Meh, forget ToSes. Honestly, Getting your OWN MUSIC on to your OWN COMPUTER from your OWN MP3 PLAYER shouldn't be against ToSes.

That being said, I don't know of any mac apps. A quick google search should help you heaps.

Thanks guys, ill try a Google search, i did one before but i thought id ask and see if anyone had any recommended software.

Also, if any admins can confirm that this is against TBCS ToS ill gladly close it.

Thanks guys

I totally agree with you there.. its kind of like the whole XBOX modchip thing in a way, but I just didn't want to see anybody get into trouble.

This is an all too common (and legitimate) gripe, and i hate having to be one of the iPod owners "that just has to live with it"-- every time I plug my pod to my laptop, I cross my fingers that the music WILL BE THERE and not vaporized. In the DRM age you really need to authorize your ipod on as many PC's as you can to cover your ass-ets.

Yeah, i really can't believe that I can't restore my music from my Ipod. For all the hype these little devices get I'm sorely disappointed. Thanks for all the help everyone, ill let you know how it works out later tonight.

Just thought i would keep every one updated and let you all know that i got it all worked out. I found a program that copied all of my music back for me and then added it back in to itunes. Every thing is as it was, except that i didn't take the time to copy back my play lists.

Thanks for the help everyone.
