So, I went to the pound shop to buy some cheap tat with a blue LED in it. While looking, I spotted a USB hub, complete with 8" extension lead. 8" isn't much, but it's just enough to get from the back of my laptop.
One pound, for a USB hub. How could I refuse?
So I bought it, and it seems to be just fine.

I transferred files between the thumb drive and the card reader (that was expensive, at almost £4!) in another port without a problem.
On the downside, I found some 12V blue lights, car cig lighter plug, two little blue spotlights, so I bought them. Got back to the car only to find they were incandescent bulbs, not LEDs.
Still, a hub for a quid. Not bad. :)

Ok no worries. :)
xmastree - look at cigarette (fag) lighters. I found a 5500mcd 3v LED in one not too long ago. It cost a whole $1.

Heh, back to the pound shop. I got my blue LEDs from a pair of washer nozzles.
But, whilst there I strayed over to the computer hardware department, and came away with...

(not including the memory card...)
So it's either a thumbdrive, or a SD/MMC card reader, depending on how you want to use it.
