I'm new to this particular forum, in fact I just discovered it about 15 minutes ago, but I'm looking for suggestions for a first time build. I've fallen in love with the isotope cases from scan, http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Products.asp?CatID=7&Category=Cases&ThumbNails=Yes&FilterKeywords=&FilterMinPrice=&FilterMaxPrice=&FilterCategories=480&OrderBy=1
but 300 bucks is a bit steep for me. I just recently built a gaming rig, but I was on a budget and purchased a half-arsed case. I have a micro atx form factor mobo, so I have some versatility when it comes to design, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to start out. Materials, cooling design, accesories, tools required, anything and everything. I won't be starting it until I graduate in May, but I need to get some sort of baseline for myself.
Thanks

All I can suggest is just keep reading. Go to the works in progress section, or the other worklog sections and read read read. It will let you see what has been done, what will work and what is within your capabilities and budget.

Build what YOU would like to have.
