I've needed one for a while, and finally got round to buying this (http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101997).

It arrived today, and very lovely it is too. Does what it says on the box, and works with my external disk (which the laptop's single port couldn't handle). It's heavier than I expected, which gives a nice feeling of quality. It's very nicely made from brushed ally and has two non-slip rubber strips along the bottom edge. On the table it was possible to plug in a connector without holding it down. There's a bright (rather too bright, TBH) blue LED just above the power socket, which comes on with or without the external power.

If you're looking for gadgets, I can recommend that site, they have some amazing deals. I've used them a couple of times, I have one of these (http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=100315) too. £3.99 for a card reader!

They're honest too, e.g. a 2GB keydrive (http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101810) (how cheap is that?), from the description:
"Please note: The loop at the rear of the key drive is not suitable for attaching to a key ring and can either damage the key ring or the key drive."

Nice looking hub. I have a couple of hubs lying around my desk: for printers, input devices, External HDDs.... My fav one is made by Belkins (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=250094)

Just out of curiosity, is it possible that you could create a bottleneck of sorts and slow all of the devices down if you were to connect a bunch of high speed USB2.0 devices to one of these five port USB hubs? The idea of creating a bottleneck has honestly kept me from really considering a USB hub.

A maximum of 127 devices can be attached to a hub. (interesting article about USB) (http://www.noccc.org/bytes/articles/v01/326.html)

Yes, but you wouldn't notice it unless you were sending lots of data down them all. Copying a lot of data between two external drives for example, would be better with each one in a different port. But things like mice and keyboards, no problem.
