Well I am happy to announce that the BF2 demo has been released today! I have been looking forward to this for many months and I really can't wait to start playing this. It can be found here at Fileshack (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=7176)

Won't it be available June 21? The game went gold on June 2, so disks are in production as we speak.

Yeah, I am going to download it as soon as my exams are over next week. Then hopefully all the rush will be off the download and I should be able to get in and download quite quickly over night.

I can't get my demo to work. I start it up, the screen turns black, and then it goes away and nothing happens. It's so evil.

 Your troubleshooting prowess is outstanding :D . Sounds like a bad download; something got corrupted somewhere. I tried to download SiSoft Sandra about three times last month, each time the file was somehow messed up. I changed mirrors, and it was fine.

Rachel, what server did you download from?

Rachel

I have no idea. I downloaded it twice. From two different places. Tried them both and I got the same problem. It looks to me like something on my pc is blocking it. I gave a copy of the demo to my friend so I'll see how it turned out for him when he gets online.

Well, do you have any antivirus/firewalls enabled?

Rachel

Norton but I disabled it and it still doesn't work. I'm downloading the demo from EA FTP now.

Ok, that's the version I got, and it works for me. Let's see... do you have any registry cleaning utilities, like RegSupreme? And have you updated any drivers recently?

Out now for BF:2 demo owners!

The BF:2 Tweak Guide form TweakGuides.com! : http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

There you go. If you're new to .cfg/.con/command line tweaking, don't wory. It's easy and basically foolproof (kinda like HTML), as long as you have a backup;). This is also a great way to "internally mod" your computer; it's fun and if you work at it, pretty rewarding. :D

Thansk for the Guide MC. How on earth do you guys survive with Norton? Bear in mind that this is my own opinion, but the thing is like a Virus itself. It gets in and then takes over your computer! I dunno what could be the problem though. Good luck with it.

Downloading it now. It's taking forever. Depending on what it has in the demo I may not be doing any modding tonight, or tomorrow. Hell maybe not even all week.

And I agree with Jonopaul. Norton suck big style. It doesn't even pick up viruses. I use AVG and have had no problems at all. Combined with Ad aware I have been trouble free for 6months +.

You think Nortons bad? Try Panda Antivirus! The damn thing has about a million process modules running in the background doing nothing, and after you uninstall it, you have to go to the Device Manager and Services to disable all those blasted proccesses ! Then, you need to use RegEdit to delete about a dozen useless registry entries, then delete whatever else is still lingering in the folder. Jeeze, my computer was a mess after that shenanigan.

Well, instead of having an antivirus program on my computer, I just install it on my garage server and "remote scan" my computer through the network.

Yes I do.

when you are downloading, check the top of the IE browser window. It may be blocking active content. You should be able to click it and tell it to all the content. That may fix your download issues

are you downloading with IE? shame on you for even using IE!:D try a download manager like FlashGet. it will be faster too since it opens multiple lines and pulls the data faster.

jonopaul01

DAP (paid for version) has a multiline download service. But it can be a bit of a hinderence (just a bit) asit only asks for a certain amount from each line and if all the other lines are finished and you are only halfway through the final line then you have to wait for it. Still, only a minor problem. Good luck with the demo anyway.
btw, I run AVG (free edition) and McAfee. I have never ever had a problem with those two and McAfee is great, it even tells me where all my hack attempts come from. And I can tell you that most of them are from America, New york area especially.

I'm not saying McAfee doesn't do its job... i'm just saying i think all the processes which are running are annoying as hell. lol

This is mean :(

The Battlefield 2 demo will not work on a GeForce 4-series as the Battlefield 2 engine was not built to run acceptably (performance or looks-wise) on these cards. We recommend you check your spec against the minimum requirements to ensure the demo will run.

Snif snif :(

Do you actually think I use IE? No way, I used Firefox. ;)

I don't have to worry about the GeForce 4-series thing either because I'm a cheap ass who uses onboard graphics.

Rachel did u manage to make it work?
Its says there on requirements that only some certain graphic cards are supported, and are very few, and much newer

If you check the readme, you'll notice the minimum requirements...GeForce 5700+, so for all you GeForce 4 people (like me :( ) No BF2 without upgrading.

After playing the demo I can also say

1. - its VERY, VERY nice
2. - it likes lots of memory (512Mb ++)

Better start saving those pennies.....

I wont buy a nVidia for this cheap tactic

I saw that you need an Fx 5700 but it runs just fine on my 5200 with minimum graphic settings. loads of fun though.

Anyone got a 'fix' for the titanium series?
