I thought I'd share this, just in case any of you are targeted by scammers. I was selling my old mobile phone, a SE P900, on eBay. It took me three attempts, due to scammers. This one in particular, after being told that I was not prepared to send it to Nigeria, sent me this fake paypal payment notice (http://www.xmastree.34sp.com/ebay/paypal.png).
I must say that it does look very professional, and I'm sure many people could be fooled by it.

Nigeria, just say no.

Ha! Linda Brown made the same offer/payment to me long ago when I sold an LCD projector, too funny. Luckly these are usually fairly easy to spot, first off like you said never sell to Nigeria. Second, Paypal will never address you as Dear Paypal User, they alway use your screen name.

i've never gotten one as i've never sold anything, but i accidently sent to bounced ones i had money in my account and sent to echecks and my bank without telling me took money from my account as i just turned 19 so i stopped having a free account so they charged me about 20 and the echecks were $7, $10 so they bounced and the bank freaking charged me $30 each so i complained and got 1 taken away but still $30 just to tell paypal i didn't have money what a rip off!

4 commas, 0 periods, and I still understood 0% of any of what you just said, sir.Hmm... it makes some sense of you replace the to(sic) occurrences of to with two.

;)

Hey everybody, (no it's not Dr. Nick), it's the "Grammar Guru," the guy that hunts down and beats those that don't use proper grammar... heh heh, at least somebody tries to help improve this world by correcting those that don't know how to talk (no offense to those that can't talk)... I would help, but I don't have the time... heh heh...

I have no clue what he said either...

lmao.

Anyways the file extension .png kinda gives it away, unless that was you saving it as a picture. This guy must be a wiz at photoshop/bootlegging pictures/etc.

I'm a bit of a grammar whore myself, I must say. Improper grammar really bothers me, and one of the reasons that these forums are so civilized and easy to read through is because of the fact that most people here use decent english. The worst is when you get people that just simply don't use any at all - it's generally kids/teenagers, and their posts look like this....

"yoooo guyz the other day i was at them mmall with myu friends and we was prank calling these people well we wasn't prank calling we got the payphone number and i put it in my cell phone and we stood accross the rail and we looked over and this guy walked by and i called the phone and he looked it it really wierd and then he kept walking and then this other guy walked across the think and he like looked at itn and stuff an d then he walked over and picked it up and he was liked hello and i was like is your fridge running and he was like yes it is and i was like well you better go catch it and it was funny and great and stuff and my friends laughed and then we got icecream and went home and the other day i was thinking about it and then i told my other friend and it was funny again and i like to drink llama MILK!?!!?"

I used to post on these paintball forums but I eventually left because it was just a bunch of kids with no regard for the english language or anything else. These forums are pretty unique in the sense that everyone is educated/cares enough to speak like a normal human. And it amazes me too that we have so many foreigners on here that sepak english as a second language and they still do a great job using grammar etc.

Heh, yeah, bad grammar and general disregard for things such as capitalization and lack of punctuation get really annoying. If someone is getting a little too lazy, I'll just stop talking to them. Yeah, "foreigners" do seem to respect our language better than the majority of "us." I've decided that America's native language isn't English, it's Engrish.

Heh heh, you're better than most people here... tch: "Yo, whuh happen yo? Wha ma grape drink yo?" or "It was like such a great like party. I got, like, drunk, like crazy drunk, and then like, crashed my car, into, like, a tree..." or "Ah'm so funny is!"

That last one was a spoof on my neighbor across the street that my brother hangs out with a lot... so retarded. They're smart when separated, but turn on the "stupid" when they get together... urgh.

My brother, when he was with my neighbor on a Boy Scout campout, called up Franco's, a local pizza and sub place, and ordered "sesame chicken" in a weird gay sounding voice... and he told me about it, and later on called me at work and tried it on me... moron. But yeah, at least they try to be funny, and not rude, like a lot of, like, people, that I, like, know, like, yeah... heh heh...

EDIT: By "here," I don't mean the forums, but mainly some parts of America...

It was like that in school it is peer pressure that makes people act like doofs.

Back on topic how stupid do these people think others are. If the balance hasn't increased in your account don't send the package. Simple.

Bear in mind 2 things:

1) We get a lot of people on the boards to whom English is not their first language.

2) Most importantly, i will not tolerate smart assed comments towards anyone with a learning difficulty such as dyslexia.

So far, all fair points i think, but watch where you go with this.

Okay, sorry Dave, thanks for the reality check. I'll try to not get so carried away in the future.

Spawn, in no way did I tend to insult you, it's mainly the people that don't care about it, such as some of my friends that are awful about it, and those that speak 1337. I have minor dyslexia and I think I'm developing ADD somewhat, and I have a theory on this, but I'll not post it here, let's return this thread to it's original subject.

But yeah, that was a pretty realistic looking PayPal message...

Erm, I presume you mean my post? I took a screenshot, to show just how it looks when opened in a mail reader.
If you look at the top you'll see the title bar (and my neat buttons (minimise etc.)).

Although I did photoshop it, as it was too large to view all at once so I made two shots and joined them.

Bet you can't see the join... :p
