Yesterday i started my 1st mod ever.
I'm using a case from a ICL computer from 1991 i think.
I've striped it down to the bare case.
Because the case is very small, i've decided that we're gonna make an external case for the 2hd's(total 1GB  ) the diskette and the Cd rom.
That will leave the case more spacy!
We're gonna paint the inside of the case with dark blue, and the outside with bright dark blue.
We're also going to remake the front of the case wich is very ugly, so it can fit a speaker and a sound reacting neon.
ill post pics in a min.

I bought it on a local pc store. It's from Thermaltake.
We can regulate to wich freaquencies it strobes, low or high.
When you have a song with lots of bass it flashes alot.
do you want a video?

Yeah....
I need to take that crappy sound off....
Do you know a way to use normal speakers on a pc withouth using an amp?

If you want the neon to strobe to music only and not to chatter or background noise, you should cut out the mic and put a headphone jack on the wires and plug it into your line out. Then it'll only strobe to the sounds the computer makes.

from my readings it looks like plexi is a good choice. however there are other like wood or that sheet steel stuff you can get at canadian tire (here at least) it all depends on your budget and needs.

Plexi, sheet aluminum, sheet steel, there are many options you can choose. No one is really any better than the other; each is good in it's own way. Depends on what you want it to accomplish. Want it clear? Use plexi. Want it light? Use aluminum. What it really strong? Use steel. Think of some things you want it to do and decide from there.

I'm gonna post the pics of the semi-finished mod
The painting didn't go very well , but we have to deliver next week, and according to the teacher the painting is very good(it was my first time with spay painting....)
We're gonna put the speakers in the acrylic tomorrow.
Total Power: amazing 6 watts(enough to get a party going inside the pc case :)
The neon is also going in tomorrow.
After that we only need to make the external case for the hd's and it's done.
I'm already planning another mod, for the summer, using my main rig case, The CM Centurion 5.

Is this some sort of school project? Looks allright, good luck with it, I like the concept. Isn't that an AT case though? You would need to mod it to fit a new motherboard.

I guess it is.
I'm not gonna use the case for my own rig, so it will keep inside it's amzing 66mhz....
