10 Laws Of Computing
1. When computing, whatever happens, behave as though you meant for it to happen.
2. When you get to the point where you really understand your computer, it's probably obsolete.
3. The first place to look for information is in the section of the manual where you least expect to find it.
4. When the going gets tough, upgrade.
5. For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.
6. To err is human.. to blame your computer for your mistakes is even more human, it is downright natural.
7. He who laughs last probably made a backup.
8. If at first you do not succeed, blame your computer.
9. A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine.
10. The number one cause of computer problems is computer solutions.

So if you add electric wheels and a camera to your computer, do you have to add in the 3 Laws of Robotics? :D
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
That adds up to 13, a supposedly unlucky number...
Here, Here to the 10 laws.
And don't get me started on robotics, my boys Robosapien drives me nuts...

Wouldn't that count out military robots? It seems like there is nothing they want more nowadays than to make a machine to identify and kill people without human control.

Heh, that's great.
Those are some great laws...
#11 If you kick your computer, it is bound to screw up even more, and possibly beyond repair.
Learned that one the hard way once... *shudder* bad memories...
I had a myspace page up until this past week, my mom almost had an aneurysm... her whole strategy is: If I don't understand it, it's bad... and don't ask questions or I'll threaten you with some outrageous punishment. Ugh, she doesn't even care that I had the security maxed out. The only personally identifiable piece of info on there was my first name.

I dare not kick my computer in it's acrylic case.

that should be version 1 of rule 6. the second version goes as follows:
to err is human. to really **** up, you need a computer.
someone said that on these forums, but i cant remember where, or who, or when. it had me laughing pretty good though.
