That seems to be very good value even if it's not all that good. £13.50 crikey, bargain but like the last post said. It may just be the box.. I hope not though. Let us know when it turns up. Good luck..
sony stopped selling the clie's here in the US. I had one back when they first came out, had it for 2 days. Then it froze while on, and didn't have a removable battery. Got as hot as a frying pan before it finally shut off. Returned it. But that was a different model and about 5 years ago, hopefully they fixed that by now:p.

It's a clie that Jon sent me. It's very nice.
You'll want to get yourself a game called Space Trader for it. It's a tiny game that uses nearly no battery power but will suck you in like nothing else. I never insured my ship and it got blown up-luckily i had an escape pod, but i got screwed over and had to start again with a big pile of cash. I've worked up to a fairly decent ship at the moment. It's an absorbing game.

Heh heh, that had to be hilarious... a couple of the guys had a little remote that would cycle through the codes and would turn on the TV a lot... good times...
Does Space Trader use Palm OS or Windows CE?
DaveW

Palm OS, but there's a windows version-so you might be able to get it to run on windows CE? I don't know.

Okay, thanks Dave. Just so you know, the handheld version of Windows is/was called "Windows CE," so if it's not called that anymore (I think it's called Windows Mobile), let me know. Do you have a link to Space Trader? Or should I do a search?

Whoops, that's not the original game. The original site is here (http://www.cs.unimaas.nl/p.spronck/picoverse/spacetrader/STFrames.html).

Palm OS, but there's a windows version-so you might be able to get it to run on windows CE?This might be a good time to mention Microsoft's latest OS.
There was Windows CE, before that was Windows ME, even earlier was Windows NT.
Now they've taken the best bits from all three and created Windows CEMENT
I wonder if I can run linux on the clié...

Heh heh, CEMENT... funny, albeit corny... quite clever. +rep for that, heh heh.

You possibly can, but Palm OS is pretty good. I wouldn't recommend replacing it unless you really need the geek factor of portable Linux.

Not really, so I'll probably just leave it as-is. I notice it has a memory stick slot. Does it use an original memory stick (no, not the twig one) or a memory stick duo? Something else to shop for...
DaveW
02-19-2007, 05:28 PM
I think that's model Dependant. The one i have seems to take bog standard SD, although i haven't actually looked at it properly yet.

SD? as in secure digital?
But, but, it's a Sony... they have their own proprietary format.
Edit:

the duo does look rather like a SD, maybe that's what it is.
DaveW
02-19-2007, 07:46 PM
Could be. I didn't look that closely, i just assumed it was the same. ;)
EDIT: I just checked, it is indeed a Duo memory stick.

Well mine arrived today, and it's not a duo stick, it's a big old original memory stick. 128MB at that. It goes in between the IR and the power switch.
So, what shall I do with it now I have it? :?

Well before I can do anything, I need to figure out how to get data/programs into it...
DaveW

Plug it in via USB and hit 'sync' on the PDA's menu.
You made me want to paly that on my laptop..
I think you can get it for windows too... ;) Real shame it doesn't have a multiplayer mode of some kind!

It would be cool if Space Trader had multiplayer... that would make it interesting... I'ma get my paycheck today, and deposit it in the bank later... then I'll order my iPaq, which'll be awesome.

Ever seen Red Dwarf? It's a British comedy type show. "Smeg" is a fake swear word they use in place of pretty much every other swear word. "Smeghead" is what they call each other occasionally, it's a great show.

Plug it in via USB and hit 'sync' on the PDA's menu.Yeah, that works if I plug it into my dad's windows computer...
I can't believe there isn't a way to install a program from the memory card, which I can copy files to easily. Or even photographs. It seems everything has to be done with their Windows software.

Yeah, that's Palm OS for you...
