Hey guys,
My roommate and I have recently been working on unique program, that will be open source, and can be modded however users see fit.
Right now I have modded this program to be a benchmarking tool. I can't really discuss what it is right now, since we are still testing it... but I do have a special offer.
The first 5 "overclocking guru's" who reply to this message, definitely wanting to try it out, will receive the beta version. Also, if you are an Admin, and want to see what it's all about, just reply, or PM me.
READ ME BEFORE PROCEEDING:
I will not be responsible for an unstable overclock/ damaged parts. Only do what you feel your computer can handle. Push your computer to whatever limits you think are safe.
Requirements:
You must fully understand overclocking (of course!)
Preferrably looking for +20% overclocked machines.
Any cooling, whether it's watercooled, aftermarket fans, phasechangers... etc.
Looking for overclockers to be able to OC both CPU, and Memory. (Do anything that you think will get you a faster time)
ALSO:
Testers must be able to provide full documentation of their experience.
Once I get the testers picked, I will send the program, and an explanation of what feedback I would like, and how I would like it presented.
Enjoy,

Version 1.0.0 has been completely finished, so I added a few features into it. Version 1.1.0 works like a charm, with better features.
PM me for a spot, or just reply to this post.
I'm reaaalllyy looking forward to feedback/results! I'll probably add the version testers into the program when all tests are complete!

Count me in. I think the OC on my machine is only about 3 or 6%, but hey, I can push that a tad.

Hehe, awesome, don't worry about cranking up the power too much, I'll PM you with the details.

Well all I did was a 2.2GHz to a 2.4GHz OC, that was 18MHz on the FSB if I'm not mistaken.
I took it off awhile ago, but I'd be interested to put it back where it was, it ran a tad smoother like that.

I ran a few, but I'll go through a scientific control/variable test scheme with comprehensive results some time late this weekend, sunday night or monday maybe.

I also might be able to get benchmarks from multiple machines. I can think of two at the very least.

I'd be down for some OC action. Kinda curious as to what this beast can do.

Do you still need testers? My rig is currently pushed from 2,6 to 3,4GHz, a bit over 20% ;)
I'll be glad to help

3 more testers! Great, I have sent the information out to you!

Im kind of confused, so is this an overclocking utility or a benchmark utility? Because I'm not sure what I would be volunteering for if i did:? . Oh, and my cpu runs at 1.96 stock, i have at at 2.44:banana: . Thats over 20% so i guess i qualify. (My old athalon xp is still kickin :lick:). You can pm me with details.

It is a benchmarking tool. By volunteering, I am asking you to overclock your computer to test the reliability of the program. This way I can see how much faster the program runs during an overclock.
My side note was that I'm not going to be held responsible for fried computer parts, if you use the tool and decide to push your system to a dangerous speed.
You are going to be the 5th, and last, user to receive the PM.
The beta testing is now closed, but I will continue this thread when I receive all the tests, and complete the program.
Thank you!

Um I dont know if you want any more testers but my rig is OC'd 2.66 to 3.5GHz and my RAM is OC'd from DDR2 800 to DDR2 890. I definitely want to try this out.

What kind of cpu's does this program support? Just the desktop cpu's or opteron and xeon multicore's?

It works on any system, but I'm trying to see if it is more memory dependent than processor dependent. The program deals with integers, floating numbers, strings, chars, and the cache.

Does it work on linux or is it windows only?

It's an .exe if I remember correctly (I'm on Linux right now). So Windows only I think.

If it ever gets ported to *nix, I could run it on my fileserver for some more comparison numbers if the need arises.
--Edit: It would be interesting to see the numbers this program gets from one of the new generation Macs that are running on the Intel chipsets...

I ask because I have access to dual processor, multicore workstations using the xeon or opteron cpu's and have some limited OC'ing capabilities. The systems run either win XP 64 or windows server 2003 (depending on the customer). We usually check out the systems running at ~10% oc'd.

Our next step is to get a Linux/Unix version out there, and then the program will appeal to basically everyone on a computer.
Oh and, yeah I'd like to see some Mac benchmarks as well, it might be hard finding someone who resorted to Macs recently though... Can Macs be overclocked? MMmmm overlocked Photoshop, delicious!

I've got an online friend from my WoW days who is running a Mac exclusively. I might be able to talk him into testing this program for you as well.
Overclocked Photoshop ftw lol.
