Hot-Swapping a Monitor

I was thinking of using an extra monitor I have as a secondary monitor on my 1950PRO. Would it be safe to plug it in while the PC is on?

I suppose if the monitor is off then it should be fine. I'm not sure though. If I had a spare moniter and wasn't about to go to sleep I'd try, but I'd say it should be fine. Keep the moniter off though until it's plugged in.
