Hey all this is my first post on the fourms. i been reading some of the mods and complete custom cases and i had an idea. My dad is gonna be getting a new stereo this fall and was gonna see if i can get the old reciever off him. was thinking about moding that into a HTPC case. I don't see much of a problem as i am fairly decent working with metal so long as there is no welding involved. But where i am running into an issue is one of the ideas i had. i have a msi k8 sli 939 mobo that i was planning on useing. but what i really want to do is take the controller box for my Logitech Z-5500 and the powered amp in the sub and integrate them into the same case so all i gotta do is plug in the speakers. and i can change the speakers later if i want to. or if i go that route i am also thinking of upgrading to the Creative Labs Gigaworks S-750 speaker system and doing the same thing. I guess where a big question lies is to make room if i have to how difficult would it be to mount the mobo away from the actual back of the stereo case and "relocate" so to speak the mobo ports such as USB, ether net, and such to the back of the stereo case. i pretty sure it would be large enough for the mobo. but if i have to use something else for the speaker controller box/amp for the speakers i can prolly get a hold of the tape player which is also fisher studio standard. and what do you guys think of this potential mod? any help would be greatly appreaciated thanx.
