Hey, maybe someone can explain this but, why is this monitor so expensive?:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824002169

Other than the size, it has the same or worse specs than all of the other WUXGA monitors but costs double, whats up with that? is there some feature on it that im missing?

Please tell me, Im curious

Maybe this is a contributing factor?

25.5", and 1920x1200 res. That's some big real estate.. would probably work really nice for page layouts or design work.

Fast response time isnt a big issue with still images... I'd say you are really paying for the size. I know that Dell is selling their 24" widescreen LCD for like $700ish, and the 30" was up for $1399 two weeks ago.. if you REALLY want big, go for that instead. :)

I noticed also that there were NO customer reviews of this monitor.. maybe they havent sold a whole lot? :)

Windows Vista Certified ;)

I would have to say that it covers 91% of the RGB color triangle. I think the average is usually in the 70s. I think to achieve this, they use a different sort of lighting than what most monitors use today.

According to NEC's website, it says that the monitor's response time is 6.5 ms (grey to grey). While Newegg says 16 ms.

I really am not sure. There are features listed on their site that may just be fancy names for features that are in almost all monitors. Won the MacWorld 2007 Best of Show though.

Yeah its 25.5" and WUXGA but there are 24" (1.5 inches less) monitors with better specs (and same resolution) for cheaper.

I was guessing that this monitor had some kind of feature (like special connectors) that made it more expensive than the others. Please tell me, im curious...

So does that mean I was right?

Umm...no. Like I said there are other monitors with way better specs, only 1.5" smaller, and WUXGA. So there must be something different other than resolution that makes it so expenseive.

Actually, I think it size probably has something to do with it. 1.5" may not seem like much, but that extends around the entire thing. Like, .6" in every direction (***Just a guess, I don't know what it would be since it's measured diagonally). That's a lot of extra pixels. But, I could be wrong, and probably am. I don't know much about moniters (Still running a 15" CRT that weighs 30lbs.)

I'll bet the picture looks awesome to justify the price. Its not all about resolution. Its about proper color rendition and accuracy. Obviously a monitor geared towards graphic designers.

It could also be something to do with the refresh rate... unless that's irrelevant... I looked at the page, just don't remember...

I wish there was a review, but I bet nobody bought because the specs are sub-par.

A Macworld Best of Show award is anything but sub-par. If those folks know anything, its graphics. I believe the specs on the Newegg site are incorrect.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but one many TV shows, they are usually using NEC LCDs. These include Stargate and CSI. I have no idea why but they do. It could be because they look very professional and are flat on the back although that's just a guess.
