Oh.

I wonder what my powerhouse would score.....

AMD K-6 531Mhz (Overclocked from 350Mhz WOOHOO!)
128Mb RAM
16Mb Graphics card

Do I get the prize for most pants everyday PC? I mean, that's the one I use, and am using now...in fact, it's the only one in the house that works...it's not some sort of retro project...

The lowest score ever is 11 lol you should try it.

I just tried to install 3Dmark06....

Apparently 'my processor doesn't support SSE instructions'.

Whatever they are.

The install program told me to abort installation because my system will not run 3Dmark06 .

Do I officially score a 0 and get the prize?

:edit: If it helps, I can sometimes get to 5fps on line rider.....

Line rider, the new benchmarking system that anyone can use?

Try AquaMark 3. I got like 40k, but I'm gonna run it again, I think my card was set to 128mb instead of the whole 512mb... I"ll update again later.

EDIT: I got 44k with the better settings, hnh, would've thought it would be better...

Durrthock

Probably too old to really benefit from 512mb.
So don't worry. :)

I was referring to my PC, which will be good for a while with the specs I have, all I need to to is replace my RAM with 2gb of 240 pin, and get a better video card in a couple years...

EDIT: My card would be about 20x better if it was PCIe, but then again, it's not clocked as fast, so maybe when the DX10 cards are cheaper, and I get the aforementioned RAM upgrade and a copy of Vista...

Just tried aquamark.

PC gave up with a dialog box saying loads of numbers....looked like a memory reference or summat.

I officially dont care anymore.

Time for a new setup...and a new thread.

Heh, yeah... my old (ahem, archaic) rig was somewhere around 700mhz, 128mb RAM, and a 32mb video card, talk about awful. I like my new rig much much better. :D

Well, somebody on here got like 80k, so it might, but I'm betting my card is just a bit too slow, or maybe the BIOS was ignoring it or something retarded.

*Bevis and Butthead laugh* He said a word that rhymes with "tigger..."

Anywho, I'm suprised that there's a rig out there weaker than what I started with.

Pentium III 855 Mhz with NANO Technology, and CrashAssistance, cuz, you know, those new processors are "too good" to crash. Pfft...
768 MB PC100 RAM (256*3, only because I was lucky.)
Matrox 32 MB AGP *4 graphics card (had its own fan, and supported dual monitors, which is suprising.)

My old machine was a freakin' monster.

900MHz AMD somethingoranother+
3x256mb RAM
but the crowning peice...
PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4400. About as long as a bus, with processing power equal to that of a small calculator. ( I keed)

That machine owned the pants off of UT99, I tell you what.

My cherry got popped by an Apple IIe.

Then I upgraded to a 486SX/25 (long story regarding my dad interfering in things that he didn't know about, we all got those stories right?).

That lasted till college, then it was the frankenstriped PII, pics of which can be found elsewhere, followed by the P4 that my parents have possesion of atm, followed by my AMD machine (Blue) and my fileserver (P3 that's about to go belly up on me any day now lol).

I probably would have been in second place then if I hadn't gotten a laptop for xmas (which I also have to share with my sister...)
Before, my "everyday rig" was a 550mhz PII with 512mb RAM, and an 8mb video card. Unbelievably, that cost $3k in '98 and it came with 128mb RAM.

[rose coloured glasses]I actually liked Windows 3.11 It was nice compared to DOS 6.0[/rose coloured glasses]

Mind you that was quite a while ago and if I played with 3.11 now I'd probably hate it. But for a 10 year old, it was great!

Oh stop complaining, my computer sucks so much i can't even RUN 3d mark.

LOL.

My old one sucked so much that I couldn't even defrag the HDD within a reasonable amount of time, that thing took forever just to defrag the little bit of data (20gb) I had, now I have like 50gb and it defrags in no time at all... my old PC was a beast, like a freakin' tractor trailer with a lawn mower engine...

I wasn't trying to say that DOS was as bad as eating ****e, but anything with a GUI is going to (in my opinion anyway) be a more pleasant experience than usind a command line (linux users please dont lynch me.....).

And Win95?

Yup. ****ty poopoo caca. (I like that, ****ty poopoo caca, I'm gonna use that in everyday life from now on...).

And when I was at school, we used Archimedes computers.. after they got rid of the brown and cream BBCs....

Can't comment on macs....never used one....

But buying 2 G3 iMacs for the kids in a couple of months. £60 for very pretty ready to go internet and homework machines? I'll have some of that.

:edit: Dem Pyros - need your rig specs... and is 3Dmark a lower spec benchmarker?

Durrthock
03-04-2007, 10:25 AM
I don't like macs, we had to use them in school its just a whole different learning curve.

3d mark is for gaming tests if you cant run in try 05 or 03 or even 01

but anything with a GUI is going to (in my opinion anyway) be a more pleasant experience than using a command line (linux users please dont lynch me.....). Seen linux recently? It's very rare that I need to use a command line.

(I like that, ****ty poopoo caca, I'm gonna use that in everyday life from now on...).Nah, use hendecagon instead.

Ichbin
03-04-2007, 11:45 AM
Thats complete Hendecagon. Works for me :P

I only use Macs when I absolutely NEED to. You know the lines. Adapt and survive lol. As for linux, well...I play around with linux, but im not commiting a full relationship with her yet ^.^

I had a bash at Ubuntu, on a live disk, and finding drivers was a pain in the ass.

Whenever something didn't work, it was onto the Ubuntu forums (very helpful people mind) and it was always ending up with command line stuff.

Personally, I reckon Linux (at least in the form I tried it in) is a niche thing, mostly good for people who love to tinker with their software, don't mind command prompts and love to have something different (sometimes for the sake of being different... at least, that's why I had a bash...).

However, it was very pretty. But then again, just about everything mac or apple even is pretty (try confusing people by putting a Ubuntu desktop on an XP machine...my old NVQ tutor was well confused! LOL).

Still, give me XP anyday.

:edit: forgot to say, it's even better if it's decadodecrododoganally shaped...

(sorry, couldn't remember how to spell it... :()
