So I have 2 CD/DVD burners. Neither are working. 1 worked for a while, then stopped a few months ago. I bought a new one. New one doesn't work. I get the same error I get with the first one. WTF. Anyone have any ideas? The burning fails in K3b, Serpentine, and DeepBurner. Here's the K3b error message.

Do you have your ASPI layer installed?

sounds like it could be a problem with the IDE channel--perhaps you might want to look at any recent driver or chipset updates. what are the specs of the mobo?

It is a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, with the F6 BIOS. It has the Intel ICH8 SATA controller, and the JMicron SATA/IDE controller. I haven't changed anything since I got it (besides the BIOS) and it worked before. Here's what Deepburner said.

WRITING ERROR [HARDWARE ERROR (LOGICAL UNIT COMMUNICATION CRC ERROR (ULTRA DMA/32)))]

I'm going to try to search the internet a little more, but I'm really confused on this still.

I LOVE YOU NEWEGG. I went back to Newegg to find the proper name for this drive, to see if there were drivers, and the first thing I read was the most recent review. Turns out if you don't have it connected to a 80-pin IDE cable, you will get a CRC error during a burn. Works now. Now to test my Xubuntu ISO to see if it worked good...

Edit: I forgot to mention. Good bye pretty cable management... Now I have a dumb flat IDE cable obstructing my view, but I also have an old XX-pin cable floating around behind my mobo tray.. I'll be having some fun to night .

You can use magiciso to burn iso file to cd and dvd. It works fine to me.
