My new computer, just got all the parts, assembling next week (backpacking this weekend :D)

CPU - Core 2 Duo 6600
Mobo - EVGA 680i
RAM - GSkill 2 x 1gb
Hard drive - WD Caviar 7200rpm 250gb
DVD Drive (meh, generic)
Antec 900 Case
OCZ 700w PSU
EVGA 8800GTS Graphics card

big upgrade from my dying P.O.S. laptop (2 fps playing COD1 with minimum settings at 640x480 res, yay!)

I don't know if this matters to you. But EVGA will be releasing an update to their 680i motherboard to address the overclocking issues of quad cores. So if you plan on putting a quad core in that motherboard sometime, then you might want to return it. Unless you got an "A1" or "T1" motherboard (seen as the last 2 digits in the model #)

You might also want to clean up and replace the thermal paste under the north and south bridges. Mine looked horrible. They used way too much paste.

By the way, what are you going to cool the CPU with? Air cooling or water? There may be some backplate compatability issues. This might help you.

I'm aircooling it using the stock intel heatsink for now, and i don't plan on

1.) Getting a quad core any time soon
2.) Overclocking if i get a quad core.

So i don't think issue 1 applies.
