Hey there Im new on these forums, but thought I'd get on and see what you guys thought about my newest mod. I am taking a Dell Inspiron 1100 and modding it into my Mountain Mods U2-UFO Opti 1203 case, check the case out HERE (http://www.mountainmods.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_61&products_id=255)

I was thinking about putting the mobo and most of the components on a acrylic plate under the top window and placing the display on the right hand side panel of my case, the opposite side of my mobo. I was thinking about using 1/4" to 1/2" acrylic to mount the mobo under the top window, and leave the hard drive intact with the lappy mobo for now, just takin the setup and putting it into my case, i will run different hard drives etc later.

What are your guys' thoughts on the material for the mount, how to mount it, and how to mount the screen in my window?

Why are you putting a small laptop into such a large case? Or is this like a second computer with another powerful one already in the case?

Lol i already have a really fast rig in there now, this is just to run the display in the window and look cool under the top window, Im gonna put some lighting and diff things on the laptop hardware.

Im actually thinking about taking the whole laptop system and putting it into a cradle with the screen on top and modding it into the top of the case, it fits the window perfectly width wise, and I will have to make some minor modifications to the height, so it can fit, but yea thats my idea. I think im gonna put some rams on the top panel with a hinge on it so I can game starcraft while im in the middle of a filght, Flight SimX baby! I will post pictures of the mod when I start it. If you guys have any ideas fell free to post.

I though you might be doing that. Should be cool. You should put the laptop motherboard in one window and the screen in the other if you can. I am modding an old laptop with a broken screen into a picture frame to show off the components. At any rate I like your idea.

Yea actually I have been thinking and im goin to build a plexi shelf that mounts on th under side of my top panel and is operated by rams that push the whole panel forward and straight up by pulling a latch on the back side of the top panel. Ill put some lights in it and stuff, prob some small LED diodes on edges of the plexi to get the light all the way thorugh with out cathodes and ****.
