Hey guys, new member and 1st time modder here. I'm working on a mod idea and hope to create a project page as it gets a little more developed.

Here's my question:

Can you guys recommend audio hardware that can play some preset audio on AC powerup? It doesnt have to be a pc device- I could use a powerstrip type switch to powerup the pc and audio device at the same time. Or it could be something that activates when it recieves power from USB connection. ATX/PSU power connection is not an option... mini-itx motherboard.

For my original idea I was just going to use an OS startup sound, but I think it kills a little bit of the effect - with LED's lighting up and then sound kicking in like 1 minute later. My google searches havent been very effective- I figured you guys might have some recommendations.

I though CrimsonSky used something like this in his Doom3 Project. It is somewhere in this post: http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3&postcount=3. I'm not sure how it works though.

Hmm thanks for the reply- I think that board is way more sophisticated than I need.

First; WELCOME to TBCS, you will find lots of helpful people here so don't be afraid to ask questions.

Follow this link to the place where Crimson Sky purchased his audio device. They have lots of things that could help and if you don't see what you need, call and ask. They are really helpful.

Check out some of the catalogs, starting with the sound one. (look at the model 60 or 60e)

FYI When I used to install security systems there were similar devices to what BPE sells that allow you to record any sound (into a chip on the card), and then have it play back on some triggered event (like power being applied to the usb port).
