Im thinking that I want to do an umbrella corp themed case. so far im planing on cutting custom logos out of styrene, im still bating window shape, in fact, im stll debating which of 2 or 3 case ill be performing this mod on!

its an odd situation, i have 3 machine that all have been slightly modded for functionalty purposes, but none of them really got cosmetic mods finished on them.

im wondering what kind of things i could incorporate into case that run along the umbrella corp theme.

ill be sending pics of the 3 cases as soon as i can get them, one PC is loaned out but i should be getting it back soon.

EDIT: Pics of 2 of the 3 cases one is a work in progress as you can see, the third is still absent.

Dude...totally!

My friend did up an Umbrella Corp case once, but this looks much cooler. All he did was paint and put a few vinyl logos--it was his first mod and a creditable effort.

if this is somewhat a worklog, dont worry about double post. you own this little piece of real estate, and others are just visiting.:santa:

Just an idea but you could liquid cool it, and make the resevoirs look like the t-virus tubes in the movie.

UPDATE: Changed my mind about the case. I think im going to go with the beige box and possibly save the briefcase for either a companion case for this main one, or another project all together.

This might be confusing. but this is not a resident evil themed case. therefor, there will be no bullet holes, no zombie bite marks, none of that kind of thing. though the T-Virus may make an apearance after all. well have to see about that one.

Im thinking of making this case gloss white and chrome(think giant ipod) with a window in the shape of the umbrella corporate logo for the window.

red lights will be used sparingly, i want this to look like something youd see in a T-Virus workstation. i gotta keep things clean looking, but at the same time, keep it complicated enough to look cool.

Just so you know, im not using the kitbashed PC front panel, thats for something else now. the PC that will be used is the one pictured on my desk next to my lovely 20inch widescreen monitor. ^_^

I need help with the T-Virus container(s) i need to find myself some clear acrylic rods that are the right colors (or close to) and i need to get a heat gun to bend them (i think).

Will a heat gun totally destroy the rods? im thinking i want to make about 4 containers, even if i dont end up using them all. I have ideas for the end caps, thats the easy part really.

Anyone got suggestions for making T-Virus replicas?

have a look at tribaloverkill's reservoirs you could quite easily create one of them with some yellow liquid in it and have it look like the Tvirus Vial

hmm i have just had an awesome idea!!!

I cant take credit for this but i saw it somewhere else where a guy made a mod using the t-virus vials. he used a metal pipe and 2 acrylic rods. he mounted a piece of wood on either end of the pipe with holes drilled in it for the pipe and the rods. then he used a heat gun to heat up the rods and twisted one end of the wood pieces to make the rods spiral around the pipe..

OR

the reason I had seen that is because I was going to initially do a companion set of mods. one was gonig to be t-virus and one was going to be antivirus (i may still do these but not as my first mod). but i was going to use clear acrylic tubes with a larger diameter, and send the watercooling into a few smaller size lines which would spiral around inside the clear tubes and then merge back together (also i was going to use blue or green liquid) thus making it seem as though there were vials of the virus in the case with liquid inside of them. Not sure it is feasible, but im still planning on trying it. If you want to try it though by all means go for it. Just a couple suggestions :)

thanks for the tip on making the vials. i was thinking of making several vials and making a unit on/in the case itself that could hold the vials and have it appear as if they somehow were incorporated into the PCs working mechanism.

due to my tight budget, i have a feeling this mod will be a long one. but better to take my time than to rush and end up with a half ass mod, right? :)

I just gota great idea, thats practical and not to hard to pull off.

I was hoping to use my 2 spare drive bays as some sort of containment unit for the vials. I'm thinking i take apart one of my many out of date cdroms, pop off the top cover, mount a tray for the vials onto the cd tray (the vials will hopefully be light weight), rewire the button for opening the tray and viola...bitchin' containment unit for T-Virus vials that will open and close at the push of a button. all i need to do is plug in the molex for the cdrom, no need for IDE cable, since itll open without it just fine.

thats a good idea :O, if your vials arent full of something i wouldnt think they would weigh that much

I think you may be referring to THIS (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=104803&page=1&pp=20) post on bit-tech. Anyway there is plenty of inspiration in that thread. Looking forward to seeing how you pan out!!

That would be beyond pimp. Great idea, even greater if you can pull it off!

If you're gonna gut the optical drive completely, you might want to add some UV LEDs and some EL wire as well.
