I want to put a resistor in series with a couple of LEDs so that they don't draw as much battery power, but I'm not sure if it matters where in the new circuit I place the resistor. I'm going to run two 3mm LED's off of the power supplied to the Wii's Nunchuck by the Remote and I want to lower the draw so it doesn't kill the batteries in short order. Any suggestions on what strength resistor to use? Also, does it matter where in the circuit I put the resistor. As in, should it be between the negative connection point and the LEDs or the positive connection point and the LEDs, or does it not matter?

Thanks in advance.

The flat side of the LED is the negative (ground) side, and the resistor goes on that side.

The resistor depends on the supply voltage and the type of LED used. For me, I used a 9v battery with a 270ohm resistor to power a 30ma 10,000mcd white LED, and got about 160hrs continuous use from it. :)

Here's one of the best LED resource site ever. http://members.misty.com/don/ledx.html

And here's a kickass LED resistor/voltage calculator. :) http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz

Hope that helps! :D
