well i was thinking...ALIENWARE IS SO EXPENSIVE!!! but then again, you can get ageia (splld rite?) physics cards and 4 GB memory w/ Tb's of storage. if you were to compare computers to cars, an Alienware is prob. the equivalent of a ferrari F1 car.i was just wondering if anyone thinks anything else is better, worse or just share general comments :)

I love alienware. Let the ****fest begin ontop of me.

(Never speak of liking prebuilt computers at a pc modding forum)

But I love Alienware, IDK what it is about them but I love them. If I hit the lotto, i'm buyign a $15,000 alienware as the first thing I do with the money.

They are no better or worse than the other high end prefab companies. You're paying for the name. Falcon, Alienware, Voodoo, Dell, Gateway, etc. The difference is the parts they put into it. Hell, if you want to pay enough for it you could build a kickass Gateway... probably... maybe...

If I was personally going to pay that much for a name on my PC I would go with Falcon / Northwest.

I would personally buy an Alienware before I'd even considered the other companies such as Falcon and Voodoo.

I don't like them because they were bought out by Dell (booo!). They're extremely overpriced (in the $XX,XXX) and use the "patented two-part cooling system" (a.k.a watercooling). They give PCs a bad name. Here's my philosophy:

If you want something done right, do it yourself, and save money.

I agree. I much prefer to build a system myself. But anyway, alienware boxes are pretty sweet in their own respect.

So Alienware is like an expensive Dell? ****.

Like Lexus is an expensive Toymota?

That sucks.

Thnx GT40! Yeah and on top of having the high-end parts, they sell mind-blowing gear too, like 2.5 Tb ext. hard drives and you can also choose to have a single monitor, dual or quad!

ACtually, yes an Alienware is an expensive Dell, but with a bit more quality and technology in it.

And, if you want similar cases, look at the Nikao Ogre, they come in either silver and black and resembles the second gen Alienware cases (not the new cases, jsut before them), with a duct over the CPU for better airflow. And a nice car paintjob, too.

Or, if you absolutely want an AW case, head over eBay.com :) And these links are for a few AW cases I found, you jsut have to search Alienware and you'll find them... lol

Alienware is not overpriced in their laptop dept. If you look at other companies doing the same specs, you will pay the same amount, but the Alienware will look cooler. I was looking into it the other day and was surprised at what I found.

as awsome as alienware is i would rather spend the 10k+ on fully water cooled (ram, hdd, chipsets, cpu , both 8800GTX's, power supply and then setup a "air condition" type setup for the case. so have one rad run out in the open and one blowing air through the other then blowing into the case. like a condenser and evap. i also check out alienware for the lastest technology thats out. thats where i first heard about sli, quad sli, and the physics card.

one of my friends maxed out a laptop for alienware, cost him around 5k.
i spent less than 1k on my desktop and it plays better. go figure laptops aren't meant to be high end gaming machines.

Same here Spawn-Inc, that's where i first heard about the physics card and quad sli. Alienware always has the new and best stuff. That's why it's so expensive. Their servers can get very pricey though.

I love Alienware cases.
Apart from that I'd say there's nothing special about them. I agree with Nagoshi, Alienware is just a pimped up Dell built for gaming instead of business / office use. Their parts are more expensive and more high end then Dell's.

That's only because they always have the latest stuff, now you want some 6 months old technology and you can't have it, or you will have to pay by having a 1 year old video card. By that I mean that, if you want a rig from them, you have to be full of cash to spend on latest technology that you COULD buy yourself if you find hard, but if you want a just-under-top-notch technology you won't be able to find anything between a mid performance class and top performance class rig.

Maybe its just me but all of the cases in the ebay links above look sort of bland. Im not saying they suck, just that visually there is nothing overwhelming about them. Maybe its just from hanging out around here so long, I expect an expensive case to look good. They probably have nice features though or at least i expect they would.

Edit: I just quickly skimmed through their website and i can say that i dont like the appearance of any of their cases
