what's with the placeholders. No real need for that.

i'm used to places that only allow certain # of images in posts ...

Crimson Sky
03-17-2007, 05:59 PM
Nah there's no need for that. I believe the max here is 20 per post, or even unlimited. I think that would be enough to start. btw, do you have any pics at the moment?

edit: currently we allow 25 images per post.

actually i'm needing a semi to take measurements off of a real semi so i can get my demensions correct i'm looking for a tri rear axle w/ a sleeper if you know any or have friends of friends who travel through indianapolis, in please let me know

Edit: and Thanks for the Welcome

I think both the people I know drive tri axles with sleepers. They won't be in Indi anytime in the near future though. What exactly are you looking for? Length, width and height? I could probably ask real nicely and see if they'll take some measurements for me. Or, lookup mack, peterbuilt or kenworth and see if they can give you some specs.

i've called and spoke to every single trucking company in the usa none will allow me for fear of aftermarket products being built ..... so i cant get any design specs finally one i think it was kenworth marketing director told me that they can't prevnt me from physically taking measurements from anyone's actual truck .. so i should persue that route

Not exactly what you want, but a quick look on the Kenworth site yielded this:

Thanks Bucko, Yeah i've seen that .. but the problem is that it's not a triaxle tractor and ... it's far from exact

tho i much appriciate the assistance ... in what i'm trying to create i need almost cad drawlings of what i'm doing to get the detail level needed

What about searching for a scaled down model of a triaxle tractor. I'm not sure if they even have one but if they do it might give you a better idea of the dimensions you need.

They dont make them that size .... and i'm looking for a full size .. the scaled would be a pain i would have to use a micrometer to and then then scale could be off .. and that's not what i'm looking for

All fantastic designs and models .. 1 main problem is i can't get demensions off the designs and 2 none of them are Triples (some people call them quad's 3 rear axles 1 front axle)

Just Give people the realization that this thing isn't small at 10'9 & 2/5th" 22" Wide and 28" Tall It's not small by any means that's jus the trailer alone

Edit: Also the Semi Tractor Design i was looking for is expressed in this image

(3 Drive Axles on semi w/ Sleeper and 3 Axles on trailer)

Man I would go to some truck stops and just buzz through. You could find one that someone would let you see and take some pics. My father drove truck all his life and I rode with him time to time. A triple axle is going to difficult to fine. There are a lot of dump trucks with triples but not many with sleepers. You may have to use the cab from a dump and add the sleeper on the back after removing the dumper bed. Check out the green PB on this site!

Sounds like you are going to have a hard time finding one of those. I've never seen one with drive axles before. Now I understand what you mean.

Just asking but why is it so important to have that particular truck? and furthermore, why is it so important to have exact dimensions? Is this going to be in some sort of show/contest where size has to be exact? Will it be measured for its acurracy? and if it is, why not contact the people that will do the checking for the measurements. If anyone would have them, they would.

Just trying to help here.

Thanks yeah, if i pull this off .. it's gonna turn a hell of alot of heads ... my next project will be quite harder and it's gonna require alot of finesse ... because i want to talk to the orignal manufactuer and get outside skin bp's to pull it off it was an X plane that died if i cant then it i'll just try and remake it

Plane is an XB-70 Valkyrie

Yeah i know a triaxle is a hard to find but ... my idea ..

Something like this
http://semi.outworld.us/images/stretch.jpg
That idea but adding a third axle fixed axle in front of the tandems
Call me crazy i know but i've been obsessed with semi's most of my life .. lol

Demensions are for my own .. the size and complexity of this project .. i want it to be as close to exact on the outside demensions .. because should a company come to me and ask me if i would build them one .. i dont just want realness

With a little measureing i have figured out that my Semi project is pretty much the demensions of a Rack Cage but longer My Empty 40U Cage is 22" wide 30" Tall and 70" Long (when laid on side face up)

Edit: also anyone have any suggestions for the Structure Railings inside the case .. i'm looking at weight varring from 300~1500lbs depending on internals and i want something that is strong enough to hold all that weight with that span

P.S.: This project would need to hold like 500~1500 LBS depending on what's inside it (Trailer Only the Tractor will have Regular Frame under it)
