an interesting problem arose a few days after upgrading my system. i have to start the system twice otherwise it just sits there, doing nothing. I turn on the PC, it sits there, i turn it off, i hit the power button, and suddenly it acts like nothings wrong. but i only have to do that every other time i start the PC. its not random, its seriously every other time. whats with my pc?:?

That's odd...Can you give a little more information? Do you leave the power switch on the ATX power supply on and power the computer on each time by pressing the power button on the front of the case? Or do you have to throw the power switch on the back of the power supply? And when you say you turn it on and "nothing happens", do you mean absolutely nothing (i.e. no fans turn on, no signal ssent to the monitor, etc...) or just powers up with no boot POST display? Last question, how do you power down your computer each time (and what OP system are you using)?
There are some BIOS settings related to power control, self-power up when you use the keyboard, mouse, LAN, etc.. Maybe some settings are on that shouldn't be.

That sounds to me like a PSU problem. Make sure you don't have too many devices connected to a single railon the pSU. For instance, never share a graphics card and harddrive on the same rail.

I learned that one when installing my 6800XT.

lights go on, but no ones home. no post, nothing at all. just a blank screen
im not switching the off the PSU im just holding the button down til it turns off, then hit it again and it posts, boots, and kicks ass. ive turned the PSU on and off a few times since the problem started, but it still persists

Yeah Crimsons got that one nailed,
Probably a power supply problem. I still have the same problem with my Shuttle. I think it's because the graphics card is sucking so much juice. It's not a problem once the power supply heats up. I don't know why. So on the second try it always boots up fine.

my computer does the exact same thing when i overclock my NB to keep up with my ram. but only when i remove AC power. ive never been able to figure it out and my power supply is more than adequate.
