I'm sure you've all read about the old "magnify any TV to 100"!" ads, and things like that.

*oops.. hotlinked image..they must have pulled the plug*

Use an old LCD, and an overhead projector together! (http://www.geardigest.com/2004/11/13/supersize_your_tv_for_/index.html)

This is actually a feasible and affordable project. I have a scrap LCD here, and an old projector.. I might have to try this out!

Compared to a new LCD projector, this has pros and cons.

Pros:
WAY Cheaper
DIY Factor makes it a cool idea, and allow serious customization
relatively easy!

Cons:
BIG.. bulky setup
Have to build it (not necessarily bad...)
Improper cooling will toast your LCD
Can be finicky to tweak

Nice find! +rep

I have a similar panel, that was built for this purpose. Unfortunately it only connects to my O2 or indy.

I should elaborate on "scrap lcd".

15" NEC, with a broken stand. Believe it or not, I pulled it out of a recycling bin! Someone had thrown it out because they bought a 19", and didnt want to deal with the broken stand.

Check your local recycling depot, or electronics recycler. Try to make friends with staff, and then you might be able to score some good stuff!

My brother's friend managed to find a working LCD monitor at the dump. Now he has a dual setup.

Heh.

I have a few buddies with old, working 17 inchers they don't want anymore -- and I can probably get a projector for cheap.

I might just do this projector idea. Nothing like showing off at a LAN Party, eh?
