which is the better heatsink: Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu or Thermalright XP-90C Heatsink with Panaflo 92mm? How big is the Thermalright XP-120 Heatsink and will it fit on a Asus A8V Deluxe? does anyone know?

xp-90c is the best heatsink on the market right now. it is big and heavier than the zalman but it will fit on any mobo.

what about the xp-120? how big is it?

very big. with a 120mm fan and the heatpipes on the side it is a monster. the xp90c outperforms it by 1C or so and its smaller, but if the x120 fits on ure mobo you could get that for quieter operation

remember to keep weight in mind. If you plan to be moving the system around for lan parties and stuff, you want to be VERY careful with either one. I can damage your mobo due to weight

Any way I can salvage my SP-97 for use on my socket 939? Haven't removed it yet from my athlon xp mobo yet to check how it would work out.

Those zalmans are heavy, i think the 7000 series all copper ones weigh 1 kilo sans fan.
If that system gets moved at all, I would look into somehow bracketing it to the case. No level of cooling is worth snapping your mobo in half. But then again.. that is living XTREME!!

no heatsink weighs 1 kilo. you dont have to be that worried about it because they have brackets on the back, just a little bit careful when moving.

Hey, did you guys see this at xoxide

Seems to be an OK cooler, not very many fins though (less cooling area)
I like how the name suggests it has 48 Heat pipes....
Which it doesn't... it has 4.

Zeus

maybe it means it has 48 fins. I don't think it is reasonable to think that it has 48 heat pipes. Who would think such a thing.

LOL, i thought from the post that Zeus thought it had 48 heatpipes, kinda like... 'hey guys, check out this 48 heat pipe cooler i found'.... I was just trying to be discrete about telling him he's wrong, lol... Which i guess doesn't go to far on these forums :D

Umm, what in my post made you come to that conclusion. I was merely trying to show another decent HSF that was at the time selling for a KILLER price. I just don't thing it is reasonable to think that an HSF would have 48 Heatpipes because most only have up to about 7.

BTW, Xato, I hope you don't think I was attacking you. I just didn't see think it was a reasonable conclusion to jump to.

Lol nah, i knew you weren't attacking me...
All's well that ends well.
Plus it is a reasonable price, but from the look of that heatsink, those fins are probably welded, and there aren't that many of them.

Meh, just use the stock sink untill you can afford water cooling.

I have a thermalright heatsink running on a p4 2.6C and it idles at 33C. That is with an 80mm panaflo on there, silent and cool, it is a very nice heatsink. It is all copper btw.

What do you think would be the best cpu heatsink and fan for an lga 775 p4 do u think this one would be fine fanny goodness (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106061)

Well, it's not a heatsink per sey, but I love my Coolermaster Aquagate Mini. Previously I had a Zalman 7700, which was pretty good.

I just bought one of those big chunks of fanny goodness for my Pentium D since the stock heatsink was crap. Temps are down by 25C, but the thing takes up the entire space between PSU, RAM, exhaust fans, and video card (definitely not for small form factor cases). It's really quiet too - all you hear is a faint rush of air.
