It is always good to get free stuff. I went to my dad's office and helped clean out a storage room. There was a lot of junk and I got to keep whatever I wanted. I got a PII computer and five mice, some power cords, a phone line tool (wish it were cat5), and two really cool finds. The first really cool one is a UPS. I've been wanting to get one and now I will have one. The second is a weird piece of dated medical equipment. It is called the Bacti-Cinereator III. The center of the device gets to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. It is meant for cleaning needles and things, and I don't know what I will use it for. I figured that I can always throw it out later, but I can't get it back once it is gone.

Enjoy!

I don't know what you'll use it for neither...

But with 1,500 degrees... the possibilites are endless...

Thinking.... thinking...

You could melt aluminum with that temperature.

It's an autoclave. Although I've never seen one with a big ass filter on top like that before.

1500 degrees!! Geeze...doesn't bacteria die at much lower temperatures? Is that thing really an autoclave?

nevermind I googled. crazy device. Hey if it's working you can get a couple bills for it on ebay ;)

..that would be a great torture device...

... <slaps self >
for the bacteria and stuff, man what is wrong with you people...:dead: .... :D

seriously though

maybe you could make a hot air solder iron, from it, that would be very useful if you ever decide you want to use integrated circuits (chips)

That isn't an autoclave, autoclaves are instrument washers that combine extremely high temps with high pressures. That device is used to sterilize thin wire wands used by microbiologists to "plate" or transfer specimen solutions on media plates for incubation. It is an over-glorified sterilizing candle.

Canadian Eh?

lol. Bacteria are killed at 168 degrees Fahrenheit.

You could take the metal part off and make a neato heatsink out of it :)

According to the documentation on the unit, it deivers a 5-7 second burst of infrared to clean the medical gizmos. Neat!

Are you sure it can get up to 1500°F? Seems like an unnecessarily high temperature, seeing as you can melt aluminum at 1200.

You could sell it to a heroin addict and help prevent aids.
Or just burn stuff :)

"Within 6 minutes after activation, the Bacti-Cinerator reaches an optimum sterilizing temperature of 815°C (1500°F) throughout the interior of the ceramic cone. A prominent indicator light alerts staff that the unit is in operation. Weighted cast aluminum stand includes handy spaces for storage of 6 inoculating loop handles."

So I use aluminum as an example, and the base of it is made out of aluminum? Well, I suppose the ceramic shall retain all the heat.

If only I had a good use for it. Too bad it doesn't get to -1500. Then I would have a nice cooler on my hands.

Oh sure, go ahead and break the laws of thermodynamics. I won't turn you in, but don't blame me when you get caught.

lol, DaJe is right, the lowest posible temperature is absolute zero or 0 Kelvin or −273.15 °C or −459.67 °F

See, people who use Celcius always talk about how Farenheit is "uneven". And how with celcius water freezes at 0 and boils at 100. Well look at this. The lowest possible temperature in celcius is an uneven number! Not divisable by 10!

Well when I divide it by 10 I get -27.315 :p
