A typical tool of choice...
I'm starting a "Pocket Change for Dremel Fund" and I'm doing some price checking...

I'm TOTALLY clueless as to what model I should be looking at.

First, Corded or cordless? I've been told to stick to the corded - you can never go wrong..

I want a variable speed tool...But how does that portion of the dremel work?
Does it have a pressure sensitive button, or does it have an adjustable dial?

I was looking at that set...It's rather attractive..

Even this one..

A few extra tools..

Arggg...I've wanted a dremel since I was 10 - My father never let me get one for fear I would "destroy" things.

((And the last time I saved my pocket change, I got myself a Zen Touch - $300...So I'm aiming high with the dremel))

Any personal suggestions//experiences as to which dremel I should be checking out?

Well firstly, both your links are dead...

The speed control is on a dial, so you won't need to worry about maintaining a certain pressure on the button. It's an on/off switch anyway.

Try Amazon.com. Their Dremel sales kick @$$!

This is the one that I want. But because of my new $600 rent I can't afford it, but I'll still recommend it. Its a good price for all of what it has. I just wish I could get it to be absolutely sure in recommending it. But I feel confident enough in recommending this one anyway.

Dremel MultiPro (http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-3956-02-MultiPro-Variable-Accessories/dp/B00006JSPB/ref=sr_1_3/102-1355021-9717753?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1174175299&sr=1-3)

You can also use Amazon's Zoom feature when browsing the image. That should help you understand a lil better about how things work on that particular Dremel.

Btw, I've mentioned this Dremel before and I got some pretty good backing (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7043&highlight=Dremel) from some of our forum "regulars". Seems like they like it too, which means I must have good taste in dremels. hehe :P

**Also, if you get a kit that doesn't have a flex shaft, go buy one. You'll hate yourself later if you don't get one. ^_^

Good Luck in your Dremel Huntin! Hope you find a good one!

Thanks a lot, Snowfire and xmastree! Amazon has very nice sales!! I can't believe I passed them up when thinking of websites to buy things from.

I still have yet to make my journey to the hardware store - I'll play with some demos there just to make sure of what I want.

I'll keep the flex shaft in mind - I've seen some Works in Progress where 90% of the time, they're using just that.

Thanks again to the both of you!! I will keep your advice in mind!

If you have a Home Depot by you, they sell a few different models of the Dremel there, you could check them out there to see which one you like. In fact they have a whole little section devoted to rotary tools
