Hello all!

i have just signed up just into'd myself in the offtopic bit

anyways today i got bored and decided i really dont like the look of my external hdd, at first i thought i'd just stick it in the case, but changed my mind cos its handy if i need to take it anywhere.

so i decided to paint it, so ive used wet n dry to rub it down and its currently drying out, but i could do with abit of inspiration on the design of paint scheme to go with colours im going for are a black base coat and i want a blue like in my sig to go over that, somthing simple but effective.

so any input would be great!
thanks

Pics of your external HDD could help us finding a design for yours. :P

When I borrowed a laptop from the school, I also borrowed an external HDD to put my files on, it haven't worked at all but I could notice the HDD had LED lighting giving it a cool effect.

maybe you should just leave it melted like that and try to get the innards back inside...itd be an interesting mouse to say the least. cut the buttons back apart :)

Bummer,

Been there, done that. Sometimes the oven doesn't even help between coats. The paint can be dry but not cured. That's why you can get some wierd wrinkling problems. I'd leave the oven for cooking.

Alot of times people confuse powder coating with painting. Powder coating is where you've heard of things going in the oven. Painting doesn't really need heat, besides just keeping things room temp. Powder coats are those super durable finishes you've seen on metal stuff like motorcycle frames and bike frames.

You can speed drying times with a little heat, but curing times are a little more tricky. Patience in painting is what makes stuff look professional.

Oh yeah, +Rep for a great paint job.

Looks good. Be sure to put a clear coat on to protect it (if you haven't done so already).

thanks for the rep guys much apreciated!!

it is clear coated, put extra on the mouse too cos of the extra wear it'll get.
think i got the modding bug now at the mo i got a case on order , never swapped a case before so ive gone for a cheap kinda case cos if it all goes wrong ive not blown a wad of cash on it, its a xion solaris and looks like this http://www.pcb.se/images?id=185303170&type=web

ive had a quick look around and i know every case is different but is there a rough guide for case swapping?

cheers for all your help on this topic BTW!!!:D :D :D :D

I was gonna get that one, pretty 'aint it?

Only advice I can give is go slow, go methodical and make sure you have recorded where everything goes.

Oh, and take care to avoid electrostatic (dont stick your motherboard on the carpet...)
