use some kind of rubber , bah i cant remember wat they called, but go have a look at ur hard ware store, just like little bits of rubber which u can screw into which will leave the mobo raised above the metal. sorry my minds blank, not much help

Isn't that why they use standoff's (http://www.abxzone.com/abx_reviews/zep/images/standoffs.jpg) with motherboards? So they don't short out? Just check your local hardware store for some if you don't have any.
I'm personally using a mixture of standoffs and rubber fan screws. For some reason, my holes didn't all line up correctly. But it works I guess. I should probably just drill some new holes... lol oh well. :P

i once modded a case with permanant rises that didnt line up with an ATX board so i drill out all the rises and placed a perspex board thrr amd using a dead mother board i carfully drilled new holes and then placed my new mother board thrr.
It didnt short out cuz of the perspex and it all lined up.

Yeah, just use the gold standoffs like Snow suggested.
