Hey all. I'm relatively new at modding. I'm thinking of doing something to a Lian-Li full tower(not sure what model yet), but I was curious. What are my options for finishing aluminum, as it's a bit more finicky than steel or plastic. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

As far as I know, you can Electroplate it, and Powder Coat it. I'm pretty sure, though, that you should be able to paint it with special paints.

I'm not too experienced with Aluminum (I do steel work).

Welcome to TBCS, Bojangles!

If you want to paint it, you would need an etch primer... or is it a zinc primer?

A special primer at any rate.

I think it's etch primer.

Welcome to the TBCS boards ^.^

:edit: A quick google brought this up:

Aluminium forms an oxide layer when it is exposed to the atmosphere. It is this layer that stops it corroding further but this layer also prevents paint from sticking to it well. To make the final coats adhere to the aluminium, it is necessary to use an etch primer which will "key" into the aluminium surface after the surface has been prepared by sanding. I used one in a spray can as the quantity required is not that great. Only a thin coat is required.

Hope it helps :D
