--install shutters
--install drapes

I find blinds and curtains boring.

Make the light switch more exciting by having a custom switch panel.

Besides, my computer could be lit up with spot lights from an runway and I wouldn't see it while I was asleep in a different room.

I like the idea. But don't use crappy blinds. Use the kind that you pull on a string and they snap shut. It's much more manly than those girly cloth ones that gently float into place. Or those crappy plastic ones that snap and get bent and even sometimes just refuse to not roll up or down.

Anyone can turn off a light using a switch, it takes a real man to pull a string!

These are the blinds that are fit between two panes of glass. I've thought about using these for a side-panel window. They are pretty slick.

I think on a wooden PC, those wooden blinds would be a cool effect.

Ok, how about rigging up a motor that pulls that string for you when you flip a switch?

I had a friend in Colorado that used his AppleII to control all the lights and curtains in his house. He had a hard time getting out of bed to go to work, so he setup everything to slowly open or for the lights to slowly get bright so he could work his way into the shower. The last warning was the stereo coming on full blast if the motion detectors did not detect him getting his ass out of bed.

I think this would be kinda cool. Or maybe rather than using standard blinds you can fabricate something similar that would look cooler in a case. Or use something like a metal vent that can close similar to venetian blinds as your window. As in the vents that are used for industrial heating/air vents.
