I would like to run a live webcam broadcast off of my webserver

I usually just broadcast it via Stickam (http://stickam.com), and have people view it through the embeded player here (http://camera.codeinsurrection.com). But I'd rather do it through my server, rather than stickam. And I'd still like something with a chat as well. Sometimes Stickam just gets slow. I have no idea how to get started with this. Help me!

WebcamXP is great software. It's not free, but it should work good.

I agree, WebcamXP is excellent and has many features including chat. I do not know of any free software out there.

Hmm. Think I could do it with something like VLC? I'm just not sure how I would get it to connect to the server, and how to embed it on a webpage. it's a unix based server, by the way, if that matters. So is it easy to do all of this with WebcamXP?
