Hiya people, I got a problem.

Just had my new 19" widescreen TFT delivered and found out that my video card doesn't seem to support widescreen (16:10) resolutions, just the normal 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 stuff.

Anyone have an idea how I can get this to work properly until my new video card turns up?

I'm thinking some sort of software application that can kinda do summat.

There must be something, this stretched look just 'aint doin' it for me...

:edit: It's an Nvidia Riva TNT 16Mb.....

...ok. I'm trying really hard not to be a dick about this, but you bought a nice big monitor like that to run on that graphics card?

I'll give you a better graphics card for free if you pay shipping dude.

Be a dick, if the need takes you....

I know it's a ****e card, but I got the monitor for my work in progress PC and couldn't help but use it :D

And free stuff's always good (handy you're in the Uk...).

Have you tried to shrink the image with the built in monitor controls? Hwidth

I've only got an adjustment for H-Position... no width :(

It's because the card is ancient! You've tried the latest drivers, right? Even then i'd be surprised. 16MB of video memory, oh deary me. :p

You want me to send you out a GeForce4 MX440? That should be able to handle it, it's not a drain on power, etc. Just PM me. I won't charge you dude. :) I also have a GeForce2 MX something kicking about, which may also be able to manage this; not 100% certain. Not heavy parts, just let me know and one of em's yours. (ye can't have em both, i use them for testing.)

Oh, and i have a GeFroce4MX440 with a broken fan kicking around somewhere too...but the heatsink is glued on, so you might need some dremelling to adapt a nice new fan onto the heatsink!

I posted that card yesterday. If it doesn't turn up today it should turn up tomorrow. Have fun with it!
