Just joined and noticed the story that won involved a bunny, and a sprained ankle some duct tape could have easily fixxed right up.

My god. I cant count the number of times ive been slicedwide open by cheap pc cases. Your a real man when your installing a cpu cooler with blood dripping off your elbow. . . .Nothing some loc tite can't fix. :D

I cut myself all the time. I cut myself on a USB port of my old case, and got blood on the back of it. I gave it to my brother without cleaning it off. I've also cut myself on a DVD drive, though I don't remember how. Hopefully I don't cut myself with my Dremel (though I have touched the bit while spinning).

i've burn't myself on a solder iron, glue guns, and a hot dremel bit. i was also cutting a cardboard box one time and i had the knife out to far and when i pushed to hard and it snapped and somehow ended up in my arm i think it went in my arm about 1" . i have a small scar there still, i was about 10 at the time i think.

Speaking of burning (another fun thing), I've recently had hot acrylic spray on my arm a few times. They say to cut it on a low RPM, but it melts no matter what the RPM is. Though the high RPM makes it hotter. It's probably not good for me to breathe in all those fumes that smell like super glue either...

My only real horror story involved styrene an xacto knive and mee sitting indian style cutting on model when i was younger sliced that part below the ankle where the indention is.. . Im talking geyser. no BS some got in my eye. I was screaming and though I was dead for sure. Lol. .traumatic. Its funny now that I look back at it. Im talking Panic Attack to the extreme!

The saying cut away from your body dose not apply when sitting indian style.

Workbenches exist for a reason.
I've had a drill slip and stick in my foot. That was fun.
I used to be a paperboy and I have a nice stitch scar on my left thumb from a knife slip.

Any pc grunt worth his salt will have some scars on his hands from computer work. Not a big deal guys.

That being said, the guys new to the game don't know how nice folded edges and well made cases are. Beige steel monsters would draw blood a lot more.
If you don't believe me, get a desktop from the early 90's and do some work in it.

I was going to say something along the lines of "Suck it up!"...

..But I guess it's not a real mod unless you leave behind some dna...

Oh i forgot to add that i stepped on a needle and it went about 3/4" into the heel of my foot, it felt weird pulling it out.
i was holding a staple gun and i thought it was empty so i had my finger over the place where it comes out and i ended up with a staple in my finger.
i got hit in the side of my head with a tennis racket thanks to my standing to close to my brother when he was playing. i just remember getting hit but apparently there was blood gushing out.
and the piece de resistance i did the typical teenager thing and got shot with a pellet gun right in my eye brow.
ohh wait this was for computer related injuries... nevermind then...

That didn't look like it was too fun... and you should put a label or something on there to point out that there's blood in the pic as some people are a bit squeamish or just don't do good when they see blood.

I nearly died once, repairing a UPS. I had the cover off, and was poking around with my meter (I am supposed to be an electronic engineer, so I ought to know what I was doing). I had been measuring the input current by removing the fuse, setting the meter to amps (which puts a very low resistance between the terminals) and placing it across the fuseholder.

After doing that, I foolishly left one lead stuck in the live side, and somehow managed to touch the other.

I was standing on a concrete floor, barefoot with my sweaty feet making a good connection to earth.

As the meter lead was flexible, it stayed with me as I danced around uncontrollably. For a second, I seriously thought I wouldn't survive this. :dead:

Eventually I tripped and fell over, breaking the connection.

Lucky, yep. Careless, definitely.

I have had several cuts on computer cases and been shocked by old AT power supplies.

I had a shock from a disposable camera.

I was looking for a convex lens to place in front of a webcam to make it wider angle. a friend ran a photo developing lab so I asked him if he had a disposable camera I could pull apart. He gave me one which I didn't open for three days...

When I did, I touched the capacitor and the camera ended up somewhere across the room...

PSA:

WEAR RUBBER GLOVES WHEN WORKING WITH ELECTRONICS NO MATTER WHAT IT IS.

Heh heh, that's what I've learned from this thread. :D

that same thing happened to me i love taking stuff apart and i also like making the flash go off. so one time i tried pressing the button but i missed and touched 2 things and made the cap go off into my thumb. the solder joint stabbed me and cooked my skin a bit. At least thats what it looked like.

This place is full of all sorts of smart people, tasering themselves, screwing up PCs when they first build them, etc.

I was thinking about going to school to be a electronic engineer hows the salary on that over in the UK?
