hey guys, my mom had a very old PC at work that they were about to throw out, but i asked if i could take it, so they gave it to me. its a very old Gateway 2000 (PI 200Mhz, 32MB of RAM, SCSI hdd), they also gave me a 15" (viewble) dell CRT that i want to use. my rig is AMD 3200, 1gb RAM, X800XL so i am not worried about not having enough jouce. i am running latest Cats. do i need to do anything special for dual monitors? or drivers will take care of it? all i want to do is run WinAmp and Trillian on that monitor. any help is welcome!

just go in the video settings and put it on dual monitor after you hooked it up. did you actually think about it a little, or even gave it a try before posting? :D it might be plug and play and you dont even have to do anything. but no, someone forgot to think :D

Time to strip him of his watercooling rights i think... put him on 0 posts again... :D
Eitherway... There is a cetain program which should be installed with the Drivers which handles those types of things, either accessible through control panel, or maybe even in your start menu... The nVidia Equivalent is the nView Desktop manager.

Lol, i think the program for ATI's setup might be HydraVision. Though that may be something else of theirs.

Yep, just found it...

under advanced settings there is a Display tab, and it shows the monitors or TVs hooked up to the computer. there you can set them up the way you want, even hotkeys can be assigned to switch between them. and this is the regular catalyst driver and control panel.

my main on the right is much easier for me because i am a righty and its only a little bit to the side from what it was before. also i have a lot of crap on the right which i didnt want to move.

setting up wasnt THAT easy lol. i downloaded that Hydravision thing, but it didnt have setting i needed. then i installed CCC and it took me like 15min to find setting that changes software position of monitors.

so far i like it. i need some time to get used to it.

Btw dual screens cut my fps down a bit in certain games such as cs:s hope u dont have any probs but a X800XL is alot better than a 9800pro so u should be fine
