Just a question...is there a thread on the forum somewhere that is dedicated to Sketchup? How to use, tips and tricks, basic user knowledge etc? If not does anyone think it would be a good idea?

I also try to get my fix of TBCS at work. The forum isn't blocked for me and I work on the air station on Camp Pen. So I guess I'm lucky there but I can't see any pix and some of the links are blocked. So whenever I want to view the pix other guys post I use one of the many proxies out there. The one I have least trouble with is bemyproxy (http://bemyproxy.com/). I don't know why the gov't tries to limit are access to the net. If we want it bad enough we can always find a way to get it.

hahaha...yea...I'm a client admin for my squadron and normally there is a way to bypass the proxy (I have a bunch of friends who work on the network floor heh heh heh) but we havenb't found the way around it yet...I'll have to try that bemyproxy. +rep for the suggestion!

Partially because you are supposed to be working when at work. The Government is accountable to the "people" for your time worked and the "people" say surfing tbcs is NOT working...

I understand that but if you know anything about the military then you would know it's all about hurry up and wait. For example right now there are about 10 people in my shop just sitting around waiting for something to do. Currently all our aircraft are either flying or have no gripes on them so there is nothing for us to do except wait for the birds to fly back and fix whatever might of broke during the flight. Talk about a huge waste of time and experience. They should just let half of us go home and then trade out half way through the day. Well I better stop now before my rant gets completely out of hand.

I personally am not opposed to your free time surfing (and I AM one of the "people"), I was just answering your question as to why.

At my SO's school, they block out any names that even "sound" offending. We used to host our websites on a local ISP named Scruznet (since they were located in Santa CRUZ), and either because of the name or one of the other sites hosted on their servers, it was banned in her district, even though the addy we went to was airbozo.com, NOT scruznet. They ban the IP's from their servers not the names so she could not check her email at work. That is when she setup a Yahoo account.

BTW I "think" web surfing would fall under the UCMJ's "Skylarking" clause... (or they could always get you with article 35, "whatever we forgot" clause...) (I think it is article 35... Hehe damn that **** was burned into my brain...)

I say screw it if they want to charge me for using gov't computers for nonwork related stuff then they can go ahead and do it. If they waste my time by being here just sitting on my ass then I should be able to find stuff to keep me busy, so what if it's to get keep up on my newest hobby and interest at least I'm not surfing for porn.

Hehe, No argument from me here on that one. If they don't want you "surfing" they should be on top of things enough to have your time taken up by things that are important. Hell I am sure they could be educating your team with some of the latest technology or something. But then again, it is the military and they are not known for proficiency...

One funny thing though, My old Master Chief used to say that I had no time of my own since I was government property...(most non-military people will have a hard time with that one, but it is true) That guy came across as a hard ass military lifer, but when you got him away from the ship tossing down some shots, he was quite the opposite.

Yes I have thought about a military thread, but I am trying to keep things at least in the interest of computers and modding.

I threatened several months ago to start a thread titled; "This is a no-****ter..." where some of us military folks could post some fun stories...
