For some reason, when I type in the URL to this site, it redirects me to spam sites. It's really annoying, and now I have to go through google to get here. It seems to only happen occasionally, but now it just keeps on doing the same thing. Anyone else have this problem?

I've had that because I misspelled the url...

http://thebestcasesenario.com/ is a spam site, that when you click on it has scenario spelled correctly on it's page.

Actually, Paul could probably sue them, I'm pretty certain he's trademarked this site, which covers him for 'similar sounding names' unless I'm mistaken.

Do a whois lookup, get their ISP info, take it to a cyber detective and let them handle it.
It'll cost you a bit, but much easier on your end. All you have to do is listen to what the firm says & deal with your lawyers on it.

I wish we could. Unfortunately it's illegal. However, we could try to find out who is hosting the domain. If we tell them they're hosting a domain that violates copyright, then they're very likely to remove it from their domain tables, and perhaps may even be willing to turn over evidence of who's running it.

I've e-mailed the registrar with a request to warn them. They're actually breaking some rules, despite claiming to be a certified registrar: They have no terms of service policy on their site. Anyway, i looked this up (http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm) on the ICAAN website, this is definitely a case of 'Abusive Registration'.

The rules of being a registrar:

1. Registrars must adhere to consensus policies (http://www.icann.org/general/consensus-policies.htm) e.g, Inter Registrar Transfer Policy, Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy, Whois Data Reminder Policy, Whois Marketing Restriction Policy, Restored Names Accuracy Policy and the Expired Domain Deletion policy.
2. Registrars must timely populate Whois data
3. Registrars must timely submit updated registration information to registries.
4. Registrars must provide public access to Whois data.
5. Registrars must require all Registered Name Holders to enter into a registration agreement that includes specific provisions.
6. Registrars must investigate reported inaccurate contact information.


I've highlighted areas where the DNS registrar who leases that URL is lacking. If we can't get a decent response from them, then we can simply take it to the ICAAN and point out that they refused to help.

Particularly this part:




(iv) by using the domain name, you have intentionally attempted to attract, for commercial gain, Internet users to your web site or other on-line location, by creating a likelihood of confusion with the complainant's mark as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement of your web site or location or of a product or service on your web site or location.

Lawyers might not even need to get involved. It's the URL we want to see removed, although kicking the spamming bastards would be nice.

And a quick google search shows that they have been involved in litigation for domain name sitting (or whatever it is called) and they also own several, uhm adult sites I will not post here...

I believe the IP address is confirmed, if that's what you're talking about.

I hate these spam sites. They always either take the misspelling or use .net instead of .com to register their site.

Also, that webhosting site looks like its been around for a while. Might wanna do some research.
