I thought I would share some of my trains with those that are interested.
all the pics are pretty big, so I've done them as thumbnails.
Click on them for the full size.
Sorry about the quality.
Apparently my camera is so good when you are closer.

Anyway, first up we have my biggest Loco. It's 46 studs long, which is only 2 studs shorter than if you put two short train bases back to back. It's on a custom built base, using Technic for the pivot points underneath.
It took some time to work out a few things, like the steps at each end. They are only half a stud width each. Also not the front and rear nose which is turned 90 degrees so there are no studs sticking up.

Next up is another custom loco It is 7 studs longer than a long base plate.
Again it has the half stud width steps at the rear. The front is off a passenger train kit. The horns on the roof are a set of binoculars and two chrome handles from a Lego Star Wars light sabre.

Next with the Loco's are the Santa Fe engines. These three I have were the limited edition models. They have a special plate with individual numbers on them.
Since I bought them Lego has released them as a general purchase item at a lower price. Oh well.
To me they are too short. The could do with being almost half a loco longer. So I may make custom bases and sacrifice one of them to extend the other two yet.
Here they are as a triple headed with the Santa Fe carriges behind.

Here is the Hogwarts express from Harry Potter. I rebuilt the loco on a long base so I could extend the cab a little. It has the standard carrige behind it and then I chucked on a whole pile of container wagons.

While we are talking passenger trains, here is my Suburban electric with double deckers front and rear. As the motor won't fit under the double deck cars, it gets powered from one of the middle cars. currently there is no motor though. I really need to buy some more.

I'll end with my incomplete Station project. It needs some more work, but has features like a Signal Box upstairs, turnstile for passengers down below, it will have a ticket office below the box, and there is a ticket machine on the concourse.

I do have quite a few other wagons and another couple of loco's, but they are just standard stuff you can buy anywhere.

I hope you Lego buffs like it!

That is nerdy & awesome.
Good for you. +rep
There has to be some type of competition for that. I suggest you give it a shot, that's really good.

Very cool man. I get in the mood every so often to pull my chest out from the attic and start some new projects. Yet I'm so messy that I end up with Legos all over the place and it looks more like a Lego junkyard than anything else. Your setup is excellent. Do you special order pieces you need or do you just use what you have from other sets? The station looks like it's coming along great. +rep

nice +rep where those kits or random lego you used to build them? i loved/love lego. i remeber i built a GAINT 5th wheel trailer with a hottub on top and everything. (it was mutli colour though so it didn't look the best) it also had a bbq and a small truck to pull it.

well i found the old lego and its still together for the most part so here is mine. NOTE: i was 10 at the time so it doesn't match properly

i had this all built before and i think it was a bit better and it was displayed nicely on my dresser. but then one day i decided pull out the drawers as far as they could go and SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!! the dresser tiped over and all the lego went smash, it sucked major. i later rebuilt it and then put it away so alot of the little things like antennas and other small stuff broke off.

where those kits or random lego you used to build them?

I have special ordered once before when a friend was getting some stuff. It was just some grey train windows and some bulk bricks.
I use what I have from other sets, however I do buy sets just for parts. Those orange pieces were from an orange Hot Rod in the Lego Racers series. They were only a few bucks, so I bough half a dozen for the orange pieces. The small Star Wars kits are also a good source of parts.
The only things I posted that were a standard kit are the Santa Fe engines and all carriages and wagons.
The Hogwarts Express is modified, but mostly stock.
The Station and other two engines are completely custom built.

I have lots more, but as I recently moved, I haven't unpacked it as I'll be moving again later this year.

Lego's are like Hooked on Phonics for modders.

When I have a kid, and when he is old enough to NOT EAT THEM, I'm going to buy him zillions of them. From almost day one he is going to be modding. :p

I miss my lego's. I had buckets of them back when I was younger, but my parents took them away because I would make huge messes with them. lol

I miss my LEGOs too, I'ma do the same Spawn, since my youngest bro pretty much claimed them as his, no matter if they were on your model or not, I've been a sad sad man. :(

But yeah, I still sometimes make stuff and just give it to him, lol. :D

I still have lots of Legos. After all, I'm only 15.5. lol

But I never got those city or building block types of Legos...

I have MANLY Legos: Lego Technic and Mindstorms. 8) I got some pneumatics too.

Aww man, those are the best kind, lol. I had the first Mindstorms set and made some cool stuff, too bad it's scattered all over now.

I have tons of Lego's too. In fact I decided that I did not want anyone to play with my Lego's so I decided not to have kids... ;) Hehe JK.

I do have tons of legos though, and not those wussy technic and mindstorm kits either.. ;) :D  :D

Yeah me too. It is just a cool little program. You can even upload your design and order it online complete with instruction book and parts.

Lego designers actually use VR technology to design and build the models first (much like that software), then they go to the warehouse and build em for real before creating a kit out of it.

I tried it, it's quite cool, but they need to have the way you place the pieces dumbed down a bit, like have them snap to a grid or something, I kept trying to place this piece in one spot, and it turned out they were all on the bottom... and they need all the pieces in all the colors, and simplify the interface, etc. I know it's new and all, but they could use to make it more user friendly.

I once built a bipedal robot from Lego. Wish i took a picture of the damn thing now...it was the 'show piece' of a lego army that i built when i was kid, all kinds of 'random bad guys'. All the 'good guys' had was a tiny ship of some sort, but obviously they always won. ;)

I built my brother a small urban police type mech, it was quite awesome, but it didn't survive long due to his urge to keep building new things...
