Hey guy firstly please move this if its in the wrong spot thanks :).
Well last night i couldn't sleep so i just layed there thinking and i come up with this. For overclocking theres always alot of heat on my Mobo and CPU and around that area. But what if you could move it all off the Mobo so only the CPU would be attached to it?
So that got me thinking. What if you got a Motherboard RAM plug got it off and then wired that onto your Motherboard Ram so The plug would be on the ram stick then running across wires into your motherboard. Therefore you could have the ram, Graphics card, sound card and all your other inputs on your motherboard off it giving more room and less heat?
So my question is has this ever been done and if not would it work?

Theoretically it could be done... Never looked into whether or not its been done... But doing things like that... That's when you start getting into timing issues... The same as using ribbon cables/risers with PCIe slots...

Youd be better with a couple of 120mm fans pointing at them.

Yeah i was thinking about those timing issues and as for the fans thats no fun :D

as for cpu you'd have to make a separate slot of mobo, which would be hard but is possible

So would this idea be good for Overclocking instead of using water cooling u just separate all the bits and use Fans?

Fans will only ever get you to ambient temperature. Separating the bits won't help cool them if they already have sufficient airflow.
Basically, it isn't really a worthwhile idea.

I think it is a very creative idea and would be very original if you did it. I don't mean to sound rude but it does sound like a lot of work to be only a bit more effective than other cooling methods.
Hey just my opinion on its efficiency. My personal opinion based on its originality would be sounds like an interesting idea if you could figure a way around the data transfer rate from the cables you would be using to connect the hardware to the motherboard.
you get 3 dancing bananas!

Yeah i wont be trying it anytime soon i don't have any fried motherboards lying around for the plugs or anything but i just thought it sounded pretty good just for the creative aspect of it. Have a little case for each piece and motherboard in the main case all cases attached  could do some real interesting mods with it and it would be unique.

I do agree on the fact that it would be creative and original, and better on the cooling side... but do you have an idea of how much time it would take you? And the huge performance loss you would then have, screwed timings, and it COULD bring you more problems...
Besides you would need gold wires for best conductance, and I don't think you could offer those (not gold-plated jacks or stuff... gold wires)

Ouch so its do able but its gunna cost a hell of alot and alot of time :p and yay more problems  Oh well scrap that idea time to think of more original ideas  hehe lol

I'd say for the amount of time and money you could end up putting into that idea, you'd be better off going water cooled...no worries there. You have your head in the right place though...always cool to be creative. :p

Yeah if it was less time consuming and if it didnt cost that much I would defently go out and try it.Thanks for the inputs though.
