I know the heading for this topic is a bit weird; but today I was told a polystyrene model for my case idea (http://chevronx.com/comput3r-case-creation-atlantean-control-panel/) would be a bad idea; as it would melt under the fiberglassing. So someone recommended Plaster O paris. Is this ok? and any suggestions for it. I would like to go shopping in a couple of days to begin this. Just want to know what I need, alot of people tell me something different so thought I might come straight here to the experts.
Why would it melt? the exothermic reaction of the fiberglass curing? Someone more experienced will have to comment but I don't think so. If you're worried about a chemical reaction, just seal the original with painters tape.
Check out Bodaker's new project. He's using plasti-paste

Also take a look at what Crimsonsky did with Bondo and Styrene.

Looking at the picture on your site, you may be able to get away with a metal frame, styrene skin, and frosted plexi.

Ok; I just found out I can get blocks of Polystyrene.
Should I use it? What tools do I need in order to shape it to my model.
